AFTER winning the Quidditch game against Hufflepuff a few weeks later, the Slytherins threw a party in the common room.Cassius grabbed the nearest bottle of alcohol and drank it, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "What is this?"
"Vodka," grinned Blaise, having the same bottle in his hand. "A muggle alcohol."
Liking the burn that went through his throat, Cassius put the bottle to his lips and drank more.
"Keep drinking like that and you'll be drunk in ten minutes." Theo shook his head, taking a shot of fire whiskey.
"More like five." Draco corrected Theo. "Give him more alcohol. He looks like he needs it." He finished, noticing the dark circles under his cousin's eyes.
The music grew louder in the common room, while Cassius drank more and more alcohol.
Blaise seemed highly amused— also highly tipsy. Well, drunk. "Fuck," he slurred, feeling like he was going to throw up. "I think I'm going to throw up."
"Already? We're only thirty minutes into the party." Theo shook his head in disapproval, then taking him to their dorm bathroom. "Come on, I've got you."
As soon as they were gone, Draco— who was not drunk at all, nor had he had a single drop of alcohol— started to get concerned when Cassius was almost finished drinking the second bottle of alcohol.
"Cassius."
Cassius ignored his cousin, hitting the back of his head on the wall with a groan and closing his eyes, trying to take a few deep breaths.
"Cassius." Draco said again, even more concerned now.
His cousin opened his eyes and looked at him. "What?"
"What's wrong?"
Cassius went back to drinking the alcohol from the bottle in his hand, not answering.
"Cassius, tell me what's wrong."
"He's going to die," slurred Cassius, now grabbing another bottle. "He's going to die and he hates me."
Draco didn't have to ask who. "Don't be pathetic. Get yourself together, Cassius. He doesn't look like he gives a shit about you."
Cassius glared at his cousin, starting to feel light headed. He stumbled over air as he tried to walk away, but Draco grabbed his arm. "You're obviously drunk." Draco noted. "Let's get you to bed."
"Leave me alone," mumbled Cassius, trying to leave again. He didn't try very hard, though, knowing his cousin was right.
Draco merely dragged Cassius by the arm, taking him back to their dorm.
A few minutes later, when they were in their dorm, Draco noticed Blaise sleeping on his own bed. "He's already out?"
Theo nodded, looking up from the book he was reading. His eyes widened when he realized Cassius was drunk. "He's drunk?"
Draco nodded with a sigh, letting Cassius' arm go and closing the dorm door.
Cassius quietly went to his bed, laying down on it. "I'm not drunk." He murmured quietly as he closed his eyes, but was still heard by the other two due to the silence.
"Just sleep, Cassius. You look like you haven't slept in days." Draco sat down on his own bed, his eyes still on his cousin.
"I haven't." Cassius mumbled in reply, starting to fall asleep.
A few minutes later, Theo quietly asked Draco, "What's going on with him?"
"I don't know." Draco shook his head, taking off his rings and putting them on his nightstand. "Who knows? Cassius doesn't say anything to anyone."
"It's the first time we've ever seen him drunk, Draco. Something must be terribly wrong." Theo pointed out with a frown, looking at the boy that was asleep. "You don't seem bothered."
"He's my cousin, Theo. Of course I'm concerned for him. But he has to get his shit together."
"Help him, then!"
"He doesn't tell me his shit." Draco glared at Theo. "How am I supposed to help him if I don't know what's wrong?"
Theo couldn't argue with that so he just shook his head. "Those two will have a horrible hangover tomorrow."
