Chapter Four

"All of the adults are going out to a fancy dinner soon. I will order you kids some pizza." Topanga announced.

"What about Auggie?" Riley asked sweetly.

"He's going to be at Ava's." She confirmed.

"Sweet." Escaped my lips.

"I'm watching you." Shawn said pointing his fingers to Josh.

Corey looked over at me with a concerned look.

"Don't let Maya burn down the house." He looked Riley straight in the eyes when he said this.

Josh laughed which made me shiver.

As soon as I heard the door click and there were no more adults in sight I proposed an idea.

"Riley, let's invite over Lucas and Farkle.".

" I don't know if my parents would want them over while they are away."

"But Lucas."

That's all I had to say and she jumped to her phone.

"Are we having boys over? Maybe I should freshen up. What do you think Maya? Do I look good?" Josh teased.

"There's really nothing you can do to improve your face within a lifetime, let alone a couple of minutes soI suggest staying out of here." I snapped back.

Josh walked over to me and pinched my cheeks
"That's cute Maya, you think I'm leaving you when there's boys coming over".

I pushed him away and found a seat on the couch.

"Maya! Lucas and Farkle are coming over now. LUCAS is coming over. I don't know what to say or do. How do I look? Is my hair greasy? That would just be a nightmare. Maybe I should cancel." She was talking a million words per minute.

I grabbed her shoulders and shook some sense into her.

"It's just Lucas and Farkle. We see them everyday at school. Relax, they are our friends."

Lucas and Farkle buzzed in and we all looked at each other puzzled of what to say.

"So what should we do?" Riley asked.

"Truth or Dare?" Josh interrupted our tight little group.

"Who said you could play?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Sounds fun uncle Josh!"

We all sat around the table. Josh was across from me smiling.

"I'll start. Truth or Dare, Ranger Rick." I spoke.

"Truth."

"Who do you like?"

His cheeks turned red and he didn't respond. I noticed Riley looking fearful for his answer, she wouldn't look up.

"What's your answer cowboy?"

"I.. I.. Skip this."

"You can't skip." Josh said.

"We each get one skip." Farkle compromised.

"Fine. Truth or Dare, Maya." Josh smiled at me devilishly.

"Dare."

I would always pick dare over truth. Truths lead to unraveling past misfortunes and scars. I didn't want to share or tell anybody what i was thinking or how I felt. Dare was simple, you risked embarrassing yourself at most.

"I dare you to kiss me." Josh smirked.

"I object" Riley and Lucas said in unison.

"I know why Riley objects but why does the pretty boy care?" Josh said confused.
