Fragile Heart

Chapter Seven

MAYAS POV
I woke up on Riley's comfy couch. This is how my vacations always went, I would live at Riley's house for the week.
"Maya! There's a call for you" said topanga.
"Who is it?" I asked before taking the phone out of her hands.
"Some boy." She winked.
That perked Josh's ear right up. When topanga said those words he was interested in my conversation.
"Hey it's Jess."
I smiled, Jess was someone who didn't judge me and let me take risks. There was no feelings, just fun.
"Hey Jess."
When I said his name out loud Josh looked down at his feet with glossy eyes.
"I'll be over soon to pick you up cutie." He said
I ended the call and ran upstairs to quickly get ready, I wore my hair in curls and applied my make up naturally. I walked downstairs to wait for him.
"Where do you think your going?" Josh asked as if he cared.
"I'm going to hang out with Jess."
Jess protruded through the door without bothering to knock.
"Hey wild child." He winked at me.
"Do you not know how to knock?" Josh snapped.

JOSHs POV
Why is she going with him? I needed to go with them some how.
"So Jess, can I come?" I smiled with all of my teeth.
"No, I'd like to be alone with Maya."
He leaned over and whispered in my ear "if you know what I mean."
I wanted to hit him but I couldn't be that guy. Maya needed to realize this guy isn't for her and she had to be the one to decide that.

Riley walked out and I used her as a way of crashing their little date.

" Riley and I are going to join you two because she misses Maya."
I missed Maya.
"Can Lucas come?" Riley pleaded.
" of course... The more, the merrier." I smirked at Maya.
Jess looked furious. He grabbed Maya's wrist pulling her aside.
"Did you plan this?" He asked her with an aggressive tone.
"No, I swear." She pleaded with him.
I could see her wince in pain when he barbarically grasped her little wrists to bring her back to the group.
"Lucas said he would meet us at the diner." Riley said
"My moms diner? I don't know if that's a good idea." Maya looked nervous. She was cute when she was nervous. She fidgeted like crazy and played with her hair.
We all walked out the door and I put my arm around my niece. Maya was still suffering on Jess's leash. I wanted to tell her she deserves better but if I tell her she will be stubborn. We arrived at Maya's moms small cafe.
"Maya." Her mom squeezed her so tight that I thought that her eyes were going to spring out of her pretty little head. They embraced each other with a hug.
"Maya come sit back down." Jess interrupted Maya and her moms reunion.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to help my mom make the sandwiches."
"Better make me sandwiches my bit.."
Before he could finish I stopped him.
"Maya's great. Don't be disrespectful to her because that's what she thinks she deserves. She thinks she deserves to be left like her mother was but prove her wrong. You're so lucky to even call Maya a friend, she's the strongest girl I've ever met. If you break her I won't hesitate to kill you."
Riley smiled at me in approval and Lucas nodded his head in agreement. Riley and Lucas were holding hands under the table. I wish I could hold Maya's hand. Maya came back with the sandwiches and sat down next to Jess.
I watched Jess place his hand on her upper thigh and she flinched. I noted his hand going higher and higher until he was under her dress.
I discretely kicked him so that his wandering hands flew off of her. Maya shot me a sly smile.

MAYAs POV
I'm glad Josh decided to come.
"Maya can I talk to you? Bathroom now."
"What's wrong riley?"
"Josh likes you, a lot. Let down your guard. I know he's the real deal and that scares you but it scares him too. You'll get through it together."
"I'm with Jess now."
"Jess? Jess is a jerk."
"I thought you said Josh was a jerk" I questioned
"He's not a jerk when he's with you. Maya you've broken his bad habits."
We walked back to our cute little table in the corner and took our seats.
"Maya you want to come back to my house after this?"
"No." I said honestly. I missed being fierce Maya. I wasn't the girl that let guys take advantage of her. That wasn't me.
Josh smiled to himself which caused me to smile.
"What?" Jess spoke with several bites of food in his mouth.
I stood up and walked out the door, Riley and Lucas continued their sandwiches but Josh followed me.
"Josh please stop, I can't like.."
Before I could finish Josh turned me around and our lips collided. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I allowed my hands to secure around his neck. I stood on my tippy toes and our toungs danced around. I felt everything hit my body like a storm. The feelings of happiness and his toung swirled around in my mind creating a tornado. I broke our kiss smiling.
