I wake in the middle of the night to a crying suffering noise. I quickly stand up and bump my head. I keep forgetting about this tepee! I run towards the noise and use the torch we had found in the Jeep. I stop. And stare. There, in front of me is a baby lion cub. It's eyes like a begging puppy. I quickly search around to see if it's Mum or Dad was around. I couldn't see anything. The lion cub was very skinny and looked dehydrated. I think it had been abandoned. The poor thing! I take off my jumper and carefully make my way towards it. The cub doesn't run, it actually takes a step towards me. I whisper gently to it. "Come on, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you." I'm guessing it's a boy but I have no clue. I'll have to wait for the day light for that! I softly pick him up in my jumper and cuddle him close to me. He snuggles into my chest and as I walk back to the hut, he falls asleep. This is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me! I hop back under the hut and try not to wake Lucy. I lie down and fall asleep.

"Aaaaahhhh!" I am startled awake by a scream. I sit up. It's Lucy.
"Are you okay?!" I shriek. Lucy is outside the hut jumping up and down.
"Th the there's a l l lion in the hut." Lucy stutters. I tell her what happened earlier this morning and she sighs. "You should have woken me up!!" Lucy tells me. We check and I was right it is a little boy cub. " Leo! Let's name him Leo!! " I excitedly come up with a name. It definitely suits him. He has dark brown eyes and golden fur with little bits of black in it. Leo will grow up into a very handsome lion!

Lucy, Leo and I go to check our traps we set down near the river yesterday. Leo pounces ahead and I feel the happiest I have in days. One of the traps is empty but in the other one we have caught ourselves some lunch! There is a small rabbit shivering. "Chloe, I'm glad you found Leo, now you don't have to kill the food we catch. Leo can!" As she speaks, Leo leaps onto the trap and swipes his foot across the rabbits throat. The rabbit is dead. Leo carries it back proudly to our tepee and I start making a small fire.
"I'm going to go get some fresh water from the river. " Lucy calls out to me as I get the fire ready. "Alright, take Leo." I call back.
The fire is coming along nicely now and I'm glad. It was getting quite cold this morning as the clouds were blocking out the hot African sun. I hear a muffled yell.
"Lucy!" I holler. "Are you okay?" I see a shape running towards me, it's Leo.
"Where's Lucy?!" I start panicking and crying. I follow Leo towards the river....
