Lucy
We are all so happy that Leo is back. He looks very hungry though. "Let's cook a big meal. Leo looks hungry. " I exclaim. Everyone gets up, Leo and I wait here, I can't go hunting because of my leg so my job is to start the fire.
10 minutes later there is a warm, crackling fire. I suddenly have this urge to cough. *cough cough* It's sounds terrible and my chest starts to hurt. Leo comes and licks me. He's a good boy!
Juki runs through the trees, "Come and look," he yells "Chloe said you never seen elephant." I get up slowly and Juki remembers that I can't walk. "I've got you." He puts his arm under my legs and hauls me up. He runs all the way to a clearing, far away from our tepee. "Wow." I breath. There, standing in the sun is a huge elephant I look closer. Underneath her belly is a calf. It is so adorable.
The mother elephant suddenly turns around, I think she heard us. "What do we do Juki?" Chloe hisses. The elephants ears are pinned back against her head and she is making noises out of her trunk."run!" Juki yells. As soon as he does, the elephant runs too. Juki picks me up off the ground and starts sprinting, I didn't think I was that light! I look around for Chloe, wait where is Chloe? "Juki," I scream over the trumpeting elephant. "Where's Chloe?" The elephant has finally stopped chasing us now.
Juki stops, and I almost fall out of his arms. He tiptoes behind a big tree and puts me down. Bad idea. What if the elephant comes back! I peer around the tree and feel sorrow seep through my body. Chloe is lying on the ground, tears flooding everywhere. I get in my knees and crawl/slide along the ground as fast as I can towards her. Juki get there first. "Oh no. " he whispers. I reach Chloe and stare. She has almost been crushed by the elephant. Her right hand is floppy and she says it feels numb. Her leg, well it's obviously been stood on. There is a really big cut on her head, the blood is dripping down her face. She looks, almost dead. Juki picks her up gestures a sorry to me and runs Chloe back to the tepee. I slide along the ground after them.
About 15 minutes later I reach the tepee. Chloe is still in tears and Juki looks up. "I'm sorry Lucy, but Chloe's been badly injured and." He starts I interrupt him. "it's fine, look I made it here no problems. How are you Chloe?" She looks up slowly, the tears still falling. "Everything hurts!" she cries.
Chloe *flashback*
"Wow." Lucy comes up and watches too. I've never seen an elephant, Lucy hasn't either. Lucy points and I see it too. A calf! The elephant has a baby! Suddenly the elephant turns and starts trumpeting, ears pinned down. "What do we do Juki?" I hiss. "Run!" He yells. Juki picks Lucy up and we sprint back into the jungle. I am focusing so hard on running that I don't notice a big root in front of me. My foot trips and I tumble down. Lying on my back I try to scramble back to my feet as I hear the elephant's feet pounding along the ground towards me. All at once everything goes into slow motion. I feel a crushing in my leg. The elephant is running over me! My hand happens to be in the way too, more pain. The elephants feet suddenly come into view and everything blacks out.
*end of flashback*
