Chloe
My legs move under me like lightning as I bolt down to the river bank. I can't believe what I'm seeing. Lucy is lying on the ground trying to scramble up the bank. Her leg is stuck in a hole. I gulp, there is a massive crocodile crawling up towards her. Lucy, my best friend is about to be eaten by a crocodile.

Lucy
I scream and scream and scream. My leg is twisted underneath me. It feels like it is on fire. This darn rabbit hole. Chloe is yelling at me. "COME ON LUCY, YOU CAN DO IT!" With the hope I hear in her voice I twist in a different position and my leg unhooks from the hole. Chloe offers me her arm and I grab it, shaking. She hauls me up the bank as the crocodile reaches the rabbit hole. That was close. The green croc angrily gives up and slinks back into the water. I start crying. My leg is in so much pain. Chloe lies me down. Her face is red and her eyes puffy. I think she's been crying too. "Thanks so much." I whisper. My eyes fall shut and I take a deep breath.

Chloe
Lucy's eyes shut and I panic, maybe she's unconscious. I carefully half lift, half drag her back to the tepee. The fire is burning nicely so it will warm her up. Leo lies down next to get and starts licking her leg. It is bent in an awkward way. I think it's broken. I hunt around my backpack for something, anything to help Lucy with the pain. I gasp. I had forgotten the first aid kit. In my head I thank Joe for this and open the first aid kit quickly. I sigh as I see some panadol, a bandage and a brace. Lucy will need some water with the panadol, so I bravely run down to the river bank carefully looking out for the crocodile and any rabbit holes. I collect a small cup of water in my hat and carry it as fast as I can without spilling any back to Lucy. I gently shake her awake and make her take 2 panadol. She falls back to sleep crying with pain. I hope it will ease. I wet the bandages and place the brace on her leg. I try to move her leg into a straight position but Lucy wakes up screaming. I guess I won't be able to put the brace on just yet. I wrap the dripping bandage around her left leg and wait for it to dry.

Lucy
I open my eyes to Leo's face. He is licking me. I laugh and try to sit up. I can't. I look down at my leg. The pain isn't so bad now and there is a plaster on my leg. All stiff and hard. "Chloe! You're awake!" I hear Chloe and she comes out of the tepee.
"Hey!" I croak. My throat is stiff and dry.
"Do you want some water?"
Sometimes I swear Chloe can read my mind. "Yes please." She fills a small hollowed out piece of wood with water. "How'd you do that?" I ask surprised. She has carved a bowl shape out of a big log like piece of wood.
"Well when you were asleep I used a pocket knife to carve a hollow section in the centre of this log. I thinned the edges so it wasn't too heavy and carried it to fill some water up. Then I made some small bowls, like the one your drinking out of. I gratefully take a sip of the water. "Thanks for the panadol. It really helped." I move closed to the fire and Leo comes and drinks the rest of the water. Chloe fixes up dinner. We didn't end up eating the rabbit for lunch but at least we get a good dinner.
15 minutes later we all sit down to a yummy meal. Today has been a very tiring day. "Night Lucy." Chloe yawns.
"Night, thanks for everything. You saved my life. " I kiss Leo on the top of his head and give Chloe a hug. The best I can with a broken leg. Chloe helps me hobble over to the tepee. We get inside and snuggle in for a long nights sleep.
