Gone with the Wolf

Chapter 13

Kai’s POV
  I wake up to see the boys are gone. I get up and stretch and look out the window to see Aphmau, Aaron, Garroth, Laurence, and Khira. I walk outside and join them.
  “Hey what’s going on.” Aphmau looks at me.
  “Khira was explaining to us what has been going on with the tribe.”
  “Yes like I, like I, like I was saying the-” ‘sniff’ ‘sniff’ “There is, there is, there is another werewolf here.” My eyes widen and so do Garroth, Laurence, and Aphmau’s.
  “What there can’t be.” Aph says trying to stay calm.
  “There is, there is, there is a werewolf here that is not our own.” Khira keeps sniffing around till she sniffs me. “You.”
  “Me?”
  “Yes you. You are, you are, you are the werewolf.”
  “No I’m not.” I start backing away slowly. “Your nose must be messed up or something because I’m not a werewolf.” She looks at me and growls. She jumps at me and I dodge her. She keeps swinging at me and I keep dodging her. She swings at me one more time and when I go to dodge I trip over a branch and fall. As I go to get up she is over me and pins me so I can’t move.
  “Silly werewolf male you think, you think, you think you can beat me in a fight.” She pulls my helmet off and looks at me. “You not male you female.” She gets off of me and I stand up and grab my helm from her.
  “Yeah, you didn’t have to pull my helmet off, damn.” I walk over and they all stare at me. “Shit.”
  “You’re a werewolf and a female?” Aaron says as he looks at me. I nod my head and look at Garroth and Laurence.
  “I’ll explain everything to you Aaron and to KiKi, Nicole, and even you Khira.”
  “What about Aphmau, Garroth, and Laurence?”
  “They already know.” Aaron looks over to them and they nod. Laurence goes and grabs Nicole and Aphmau grabs KiKi. We sit around the fire and I start from the beginning.

After explaining
“So your mother was a werewolf before she died. You were bestfriends with Zane. Your dad used that to his advantage and stole the ‘eye of the dragon’ and Zane thought you betrayed him. Now your father is dead?” I nod my head not wanting to say more. “Ok, I understand.” I get up and leave, trying not to cry. I run back to the clearing that Garroth, Laurence, and I were at last night and sat by a tree and started crying. I hear footsteps but I don’t bother to look up. I put my head down and rest it on my knees. I feel arms go around me and finally look up to see the boys.
  “Are you ok?” I shrugged. “It’s ok to feel sad. You lost your best friend because of your dad and now he’s dead.” I turn and hug Laurence around the waist. I did it so fast that it caught both of them off guard. I sat there and said nothing and they comforted me till I fell asleep.

Laurence’s POV
  I was about to fall asleep when Garroth said something.
  “Hey you awake?”
  “Yeah what’s up?”
  “So what do you think we should do?”
  “What do you mean?”
  “I mean about Kai?”
  “Well, we should just wait and see if she chooses one of us.”
  “But don’t you remember she said that she didn’t have feelings about us.”
  “I know but that doesn’t mean she won’t in the future.”
  “True but what if she finds out I’m a Ro’meave and she hates me?”
  “Well when she finds out we will explain to her about it.”
  “No she’ll hate me I’m not going to tell her ever.” I sigh and look at him.
  “Garroth she’s going to find out sooner or later so you need to be prepared.” He nods and I look at the clearing. “Hey while we’re here do you want to practice to get your mind off of it?” He nods and gets up.
  “Let’s do it and I’ll beat your ass.” I smirk and lay Kai against the tree so she’s comfy while we train.

Kai’s POV
Her dream
  Zane and I were in his room just eating and talking.
  “So how was your trip?”
  “It was fine but I wish that you came. It would have been better.”
  “You know I won’t leave unless my dad allows it but don’t worry when I finish my training in a month or two I’ll be able to go with you since you said you wanted me to be your guard.”
  “Heh yeah and you won’t have to wear what all the other guards wear.”
  “That’s good, those outfits are really ugly.”
  “Heh, I know, I don’t know why my father made those the uniforms for them. When I become lord I’ll make them different with the help of you and a few of the ones who have to wear them.”
  “That’s good.”
  “It’s getting late, do you want me to walk you home?”
  “It’s fine Zane, I can walk by myself.”
“No, I want to walk you home.”
  “It’s fine, I’m pretty sure my dad is still here.”
  “Ugh, fine, at least let me walk you to the door.”
  “Fine, let’s go.” As we walked down the hall and made jokes we saw my father run past us and stop.
  “Kai hurry up, we need to go, the plan worked.”
  “What plan?” I ask confused at what he meant.
  “The plan where you distract Zane and I get ‘the eye of the dragon’.” My eyes widened in realization and I could tell Zane did too.
  “You did this to get the eye!” Zane turns and yells at me.
  “I completely forgot about this Zane I would have told you. You know I don’t like stealing from anyone.” I look at my dad “Give it back.” I demanded.
  “Kai I worked too hard to give this up, we have to go before the guards find me.” I look over to Zane and he looks both sad and mad even with his mask on and his hair covering one of his eyes I could tell.
  “I thought you were my friend. I thought I could trust you. I thought we had something but I guess I was wrong.”
  “Zane please you have to believe me I would never betray you.”
  “Then why is your father saying you helped him?” I look at him hoping he will believe me but he doesn’t. “GUARDS THE THIEF IS OVER HERE!!!!!” And with that we heard footsteps telling us that they were on their way. I had tears in my eyes and I started running. I knew he wouldn’t listen to me.
  “Kai hurry up!” I ran faster and passed him. Within a few minutes we were outside the castle and heading towards the wall. “Head to the gates we’ll pass it and head into the woods then find a village to stay in for a bit.” I keep running towards the gate and then heard something hit the ground. I turn around and see my father on the ground with an arrow in his back.
  “Dad!” I stop and look at him.
  “Run!”
  “But we need to leave together.”
  “Just go, I'm bleeding right now and it will just make you slower, now run!” I start crying a little. “I SAID RUN!!!” With that I took off back towards the gate. I saw guards up on the wall but they weren’t closing it yet so I kept going. I was about 2 yards away from the gate when they notice what was going on and started closing the gate. I run faster and slide under the gate before it closes. I stand up and look through the gate to a guard holding my father by the hair in one hand and a sword in the other. I watch as the guard cut his head off. I couldn’t move, I was frozen in place, I didn't know what to do. The calls of the guards heading towards the wall brought me back into reality. I turn around and start heading into the woods and I didn’t stop.

Back to the real world
  I wake up with tears running down my face and realize it was just a dream. I look around to see Garroth and Laurence sparing and just watch them, trying to catch my breath. After a minute or so Garroth looks over and sees I’m awake and I put my head down so he doesn’t see the tears in my eyes.
  “Hey Kai, are you ok?” I nod.
  “I’m fine, how long was I asleep?”
  “A few hours or so Garroth and I decided to spare a bit while waiting for you to wake up.” I nod. “Why are you crying?”
  ‘Shit.’ “I’m not.” I feel someone grab my chin and see it’s Laurence. I avoid his gaze not wanting to look into his eyes.
  “Did you have a nightmare?” I nod not wanting to say anything. “What was it about?” I don’t want to answer but I know if I don’t they won’t stop bugging me about it so I have to say something.
  “I-it was about my past.” Laurence hugs me.
  “Don’t worry about your past, it won't hurt you anymore.” Garroth walks up to us.
  “We should head back since it’s getting late and we don’t want to worry Lord Aphmau.” We both nod and Laurence helps me up and we head back to the tribe. As we get back we see Aphmau in one of the huts with some other woman.
  “Who is that?”
  “Donna!” both of them say and both of them run to the house. I walk after them confused. As I get to the house Aphmau sees me and says.
  “Kai, this is Donna. She left about a week before you came to the village.” I nod and walk up to her and she turns to me.
  “Hi I’m Kai. It's nice to meet you.”
  “Nice to meet you too.” She looks at my ears. “Cute ears.”
  “Thanks, why did you leave if I may ask?”
  “Well Logan, my husband, and I left on our honeymoon after we got married.”
  “Aw well congratulations on your wedding, who performed it?”
  “The high priest of O’khasis Zane.” My eyes widen a bit.
  ‘Zane was at Phoenix Drop recently so if I went with him I would have met them then they would have hated me and they would have locked me up, I’m glad I didn’t go with him.’ “Well I bet you had a very nice wedding.” She nods.
  “It was, Lady Aphmau did everything incredibly.” I look at Aphmau and she smiles and nods her head. Garroth looks around.
  “Hey speaking of Logan, where is he?” Donna looks down
  “As we were on our honeymoon a wolf tribe captured us. They were going to let us go but Logan transformed into a werewolf and they are keeping him locked up.” Aph looks at us and I can tell we are all thinking the same thing.
  “Donna, in the morning Garroth, Laurence, Kai, I will head to the wolf tribe and get him back.” She looks at Aphmau and smiles.
  “Thank you my Lord, that would be very kind of you.” After a bit we got Donna settle and told Aaron what our plan is and he said he wanted to join. The rest of the night is pretty normal. I tell Donna not to tell anyone at the village about me being a girl and a werewolf. I let her touch my ears since she asked. We went to bed that night ready for when we leave in the morning. Tomorrow will be a long one.
