Chapter 18

Kai’s POV
His dream
  Today I get to go with dad to work and I get to meet the person I will protect and serve for the rest of my life. As we enter the castle we walk into a throne room where a man with blond hair and a woman with black hair sit talking. As we get closer they stop and look at us. My dad bows and I follow. I fall as I do and my dad stands up and helps me back on my feet. The woman starts squealing and looks at me.
  “Is this your daughter? She is so cute.” I stand up and bow again and do it perfectly. “I think she will be great at protecting my little ZuZu.” All of the sudden a boy with raven hair walks in. He looks about a year younger than me so about 9.He walks over to the woman.
  “Mom, who is this?”
  “Well you know Alex and that he will be your guard one day.” He nods. “Well this is his daughter Kai. She will be your personal guard in the future.” I look down and she notices. “Are you ok dear?” I look up and nod.
  “I just don’t know if I can because of what I am?” Both her and her son look at me. The man left a little bit ago. I pull down my hood to show my ears. Both of their eyes widen and the boy speaks up.
  “Woah, that's so cool.” I look at him and smile. He walks over to me. “Can I touch them?” I nod and tilt my head down a little. As he touches them I shake since it feels weird. After he finishes he looks at his mother. “Can she come to my room to play?” She looks at my dad and he nods.
  “If they want to?” I nod and he grabs my hand and we head to his room. Before I can see more I hear my name being called.

Back in the real world
  I wake up to Garroth waking me up.
  “Kai it’s almost time to go get up.” I sit up and look at him. “My Irene you’re almost as bad as Laurence.”
  “I am not, shush.” He rolls his eyes at me and holds out his hand. I take it and get up. We walk outside to see Aaron and Laurence. “Hey guys. Where’s Aph?”
  “She is getting some supplies from the castle before we go.” I nod and walk over to my horse and saddle her up. Aaron walks inside which leaves me, Garroth, and Laurence alone.
  “So what do you guys-.”
  “Kai we have decided that we want to be together.”
  “But we are together.”
  “Garroth and I want to be together too.”
  “So you guys want to be in a close poly relationship.”
  “Yeah so how exactly does this work since we’re new to this.”
  “Well just do what feels right and as time goes on you will find out what you need to do for both of your partners.” We continue talking till Aphmau and Aaron walk out. Something seems off so I walk up to Aph. “You good it took you longer than I thought.”
  “Y-yeah just A-Aaron and I had a m-makeout session.”
  “Had a feeling because of the marks on your neck.”
  “You can see them?” I nod and help her fix her outfit to cover the marks. “Thanks.”
  “No problem Aph.” She looks at me.
  “Aph?”
  “Yeah it’s a nickname if you don’t like it it’s fine.”
  “No, I'm just use to Laurence calling me that.” As if on cue Laurence calls for us.
  “Hey Kai, Aph we gotta go.”
  ‘I didn’t notice Laurence calls her that, cool.’ Aph grabs two golden lassos and puts Malachi and the little owl she found. We go over and jump on our horses and head out. A few hours later we stop and decide to take a break since it’s getting late and we’re a little lost.
  “Well this is just great.” Laurence says tying his horse to a tree so it doesn't leave. I nod and get some firewood.
  “Yeah I’m going to go up on that hill and see if I can find anything to help us locate the wolf tribe.” We nod and she leaves and Aaron follows her. So that leaves me, Garroth, and Laurence alone.
  “So what do you guys want to do while we wait?” They both shrug. We sit there for a few minutes till I hear something. I look up and see a wyvern. “What the?” The boys look up and see it too.
  “Raven there you are. What is it you bring to me?” As the wyvern lands  Garroth walks over to him. He grabs the letter from the bird and reads it. “It’s from Zoey. She says that the village is doing good and that Levin is starting to walk and talk some.”
  “That’s good to hear.” Within seconds Aphmau and Aaron come over to us. Hey guys, any luck?” They shake their heads no. “Oh by the way Raven has a letter from Zoey.” Aph nods and goes over to Raven and reads the letter then seems to say something to him and he takes off. I look at her and pull her to the side. “What did you just do?”
  “Well this may seem weird, but I can talk to wyvern. I asked Raven to see if he can help us find the tribe and he said he’d be back as soon as possible.” I nod and look over to the boys.
  “Do they know you can do that?” She shakes her head no.
  “I never told anyone this so yeah.”
  “Alright well we better wait for Raven then.” She nods and we walk over to the boys and wait for a bit. After a bit Raven comes back and shows us the way to go. As we get close I start to hear a fire and things moving around. Raven leaves and we get off of our horses. We sneak over and see the tribe.
  “How will we find Logan without being caught?”
  “I have no clue but we need to figure it out soon.”
  “You guys, we need to be quiet before-.” All of the sudden I hear growling and turn around to see a few of them behind us. Then as I look around us they have surrounded us and we are forced to go to jail.
