Bowie's POV

5:28 pm

I took a sip of my wine and looked across the table at Nathan.

"It's not really something that makes sense," he said with a smirk. "I swear I feel like she has magical powers."

I covered my smile with my wine glass. "It's not magic."

Hank sat next to him with Lilo on his other side watching as she ate. He looked at her the same way Nathan had.

I'd noticed how the two of them were similar the more time I spent here. Nathan didn't look too much like his parents but he had similar quirks to his dad. Both of them were pretty quiet in that observant, demure way. They both laughed with the same energy and shared thick black eyebrows.

His dad owned a hardware store and repaired house issues for people around town. It made me wonder if Nathan was the Bob-the-builder type.

It's like everything I'd thought Nathan to be through celebrity gossip magazines and websites was a completely different person.

His mom was so different from him that it was jarring. She was like the bright light I'd always known her to be. We'd spent most of the dinner chatting and catching up. She'd asked about Stevie and my sisters who she'd met before.

We'd all pretty much finished our meal and started talking. I could see where Nathan learned to cook so well.

"Bowie's always had a way with kids," Jamie said with a knowing smile beside me. "We worked together with kids at the local boys and girls club for a couple of months. All the kids were attached to her hip. It's not that crazy that she's the one who somehow got Lilo to start talking."

"Well, magic or not," Hank said softly. "I'm happy to be able to hear my sugar speak....thank you."

I smiled shyly.

And with that being said all three of them looked over at Lilo who was trying to eat her noodles before they slipped off her fork. I loved that she was loved.

After being given the tour of the house, I could see how Lilo had not only changed Nathan's life but his parents

After being given the tour of the house, I could see how Lilo had not only changed Nathan's life but his parents.

Her photos were all over the house, she had a bedroom and her toys were in different corners everywhere.

"I still can't believe you're snowboarding now," Jamie said looking back at me. "I remember you mentioning it one time but I never knew you were serious about it. And to have my Nathan as your coach is just so super."

I laughed softly. "I still can't believe your son is a snowboarding legend and you never mentioned it."

She gave me a look and smirked. "That's because Nathan doesn't like me bragging about him."

I looked over at him with raised brows, beckoning for an explanation.

"I prefer my parents to be out of the spotlight. The fewer people know I'm related to them the better," he said sipping his ginger beer. "I like to know they at least have their privacy."
