I clicked my feet on my board and stood tall, hands on my hips looking up at him.
He was staring at me. Blinking and taking a step closer, he placed a hand on my waist, shocking me. Even through the thickness of my jacket, I felt the pressure of his...
Go Gina by SZA played in my headphones as I danced in the kitchen. I rinsed off the remaining dishes and placed them on the rack beside the sink, singing lightly.
Jamie had left after Lilo had fallen asleep because classes started back up again tomorrow and she had an 8 am lecture.
At the mention of school, I thought about when I was back in her class and academia as a whole. I missed it some days.
Only one light was on in the kitchen, making a soft white hue cover the room.
Jamie said that Nathan wouldn't be back till the morning so I was staying the night. I'd expected it but it was still weird to think about.
The last time we watched Lilo at my place and Nalu and Stevie were both with me. Now I was in his house, sleeping in the guestroom, and looking after Lilo.
It felt different.
"Damn Gina, Go Gina, them jeans they must be uptight momma," I sang.
I moved my hips absentmindedly, moving to the beat easily.
Standing in my knee-length green frog socks and an oversized cream hoodie that reached my thighs and no pants, I probably looked crazy right now.
I bopped my head from side to side, my curls falling into my face. I whisper-yelled the lyrics careful not to wake Lilo.
I turned off the faucet and wiped my hands on a towel, going towards the fridge. The song was beginning to end when I reached for the door.
That's when I heard a slight sound. Closing the fridge door I turned and found Nathan standing in the entryway of the kitchen.
A gasp escaped my lips and I grabbed my chest, feeling my heart rate spike. "You scared me."
He blinked, his eyes roaming down my body and then back to my face. His jaw clenched and he turned on the light switch beside him, pouring the whole room with light.
I could see now that he was wearing a black hoodie with matching sweatpants and sneakers. A duffel bag sat beside him on the floor.
I seriously wondered how long he'd been standing there.
Realizing he was actually here right now, I slowly pulled my headphones out of my ears, feeling nervous.
"I thought you'd be back tomorrow," I whispered.
He ran a hand through his curls, making a mess on his head. He surprisingly didn't look too tired even though I knew he was just on a flight.

"I wanted to come home early," He said dropping his keys on the counter, his expression blank.
My music must've been louder than I thought because he managed to open the garage, come in, and I didn't hear a single thing.
