Bowie's POV

A few minutes later

I slowly pulled the door to Lilo's bedroom, hearing the sound of the soft click when it closed.

I could hear the raised voices through the wall earlier and was wondering how their conversation went.

But it was getting late and I needed to start driving if I wanted to get home before—

Thunder crackled outside and it began downpouring.

I slowly walked into the living room, not finding either Nathan or Lealani. Weird.

Looking out the massive windows that framed the living room, I watched as heavy rain poured down onto the white snow.

I seriously needed to find my keys.

I was already heading to the bathroom, wondering if I had left them here when I was doing Lilo's hair earlier.

It was empty so I headed into Nathan's bedroom, immediately going towards the dresser.

There was his watch, some cologne bottle, stray cuff links, and then....there it was.

I grabbed the baby blue key holder and moved towards the bedroom door when it suddenly opened towards me.

I moved back immediately and Nathan stood in the doorway, recognition etching his features.

"I was wondering where you were. Lani's Uber showed up and I went to see her out."

I blinked mutely, unconsciously ignoring his words.

His whole dress shirt was drenched in water, sticking to his skin and outlining his chest. Water dripped from his hair and eyelashes making him look like he just went for a swim.

"Um..."

He was a sight at the moment, every feature suddenly being etched in my memory. It was the way his sleeves were rolled up and veins roped up his arms. And his beard was more full than usual, with drops of water dripping from his chin.

"You okay?" He asked, giving me a weary gloss over.

I snapped back to reality and clutched my keys to my chest. "I'm gonna get going. It's late and we have an early practice tomorrow morning."

"Wait what?" His expression was lost with the way he was looking at me. "I thought you we're gonna....stay the night."

"I...didn't think that I'd...."

We had never mentioned that. In fact, we never even discussed how things would go when we came back home from Hawaii.

"Well stay anyway. I don't want you driving in the rain," he said casually like there was no reason to discuss it. He took my keys from my hands quickly and placed it on the dresser.

Then he walked passed me, straight towards the bathroom, leaving the door wide open.

I watched as he unbuttoned his shirt and peeled the wet clothing from his skin.

"I didn't bring anything but my purse." I looked over at the window and watched as the trees swayed, the wind blowing and the rain pouring down.

"I've got spare toothbrushes and you can borrow any of my clothes," Nathan offered.

I nodded my head silently. It was probably for the best with the way the wind was howling.

"The guest bedroom sheets are still in the hallway closet?" I asked, walking out into the hallway. I passed Lilo's bedroom and I pulled open the white linen closet doors, scanning over the items. It was a bit hard to do in the dark.
