I clicked my feet on my board and stood tall, hands on my hips looking up at him.
He was staring at me. Blinking and taking a step closer, he placed a hand on my waist, shocking me. Even through the thickness of my jacket, I felt the pressure of his...

Bowie's POV
One month later
February 28th
My 25th birthday
I wanted one thing and one thing only on my 25th birthday. A massive slice of Oreo ice cream cake that I could eat and not throw up.
Silly, I know. But I missed ice cream and cookies and cream was my favorite.
I was better. Still not back to normal but better. Chemo treatments were almost done and my medications had become less.
And yes, my hair had started to fall out more, but Whitney had given me a good cut, leaving me with a curly bob that reached my shoulders.
I was visibly healthier, the color coming back to my skin. And I wasn't out of breath when I walked up the stairs anymore. It was easier to ignore my cancer when I was out with Lilo at the park or shopping with Steive.
I wasn't working anymore so my days were filled with mundaneness, nothing really happening. But I was grateful for it.
I could breathe easier now.
I wasn't sure about what was going to happen at my next ultrasound or my next round of tests, but I wasn't going to focus on it.
I'd made it to my 25th year. I was too happy and thankful to be sad.
I was opening another gift, sitting on the couch, with my family surrounding me. Stevie, Scarlet, Whitney, Poppy, Jamie, Hank, Minnow, Gram, and Lilo. I didn't need much more.
Nalu and Ozias were working but I knew that I'd see them sometime later.
Poppy snapped a picture of me as I held up a new fancy perfume Minnow had gotten me.

"Okay, open mine next," Stevie sat up eagerly, handing it over to me.
"You guys are so sweet, doing all of this," I smiled, taking the box from her.
Gram was taking video and I held up the gift to the camera. "Baby, after everything, you deserve to celebrate your life."
I unwrapped it and found a jewelry box. I gasped at her and slowly opened it. Inside was a golden locket...one identical to what I had given to Lilo. This one had charms going around the pendant, a myriad of colors. When I opened it, it said in the tiniest cursive, "And I knew we were forever."
My eyes watered and I chuckled, unable to find the right words. I reached across the couch and pulled her to my chest. Stevie held me tightly and kissed my cheek.
It had started out with the two of us so long ago and since then, so much had happened. I was lucky enough to call her mine.
I sniffled and pulled back, smiling. She helped me put it on and I sat back down. Lilo climbed onto my lap, grabbing the locket and looking at the charms.
