Bowie's POV

Thursday, December 1st

6:08pm

Stevie stared at me with snake-like eyes. They were assessing for bullshit, calculating everything.

Sitting on her bed and leaning against her headboard with a laptop on her lap, she was wearing an oversized holiday sweater and black spider-designed stockings.

I stood in front of the bed, hands on my hips.

"I don't see the problem," She answered with a humorous smile. Like the kind, the Joker gives in Batman.

My eyes widened. "Seriously, can you please be serious for 5 minutes?"

"You act like this is so bad...all I'm hearing is that you're finally over Jonah," She clapped quietly. "That is the best news I've heard all year."

"Stephanie Julietta Lopez,  focus," I warned.

She scoffed and hushed me. "Don't say my government name too loud," She hissed looking at the closed door. "I've been able to keep that from Nalu for 4 years now and if he finds out the truth...I'll kill you."

"Good," I said simply. At least now she was actually paying attention. "Now let's focus please."

"I don't see the problem...you like Nathan," She shrugged. "Big deal."

"Ummm, this is a huge problem," I retorted, pacing back and forth in front of the bed. "I can't like him."

"You liked him for the entirety of high school and a small portion of college...it wasn't a problem then."

I paused in my pacing and gave her a "be foreal" look. "Steeves...back then I didn't actually know him. Nothing was at stake. It's a problem because right now he's downstairs watching football with his literal child."

"And that's bad because?" She was smiling slightly, still typing. "Isn't this better? Now you get to ogle him in person instead of through a screen."

"No it's not...in fact don't let me be alone with him in a room," I said pointing at her.

"Why not? You guys spent a whole snow day together and by the sound of it...you had fun. What are you so afraid of?"

I blinked, looking at the horror movie posters covering her walls. When Stevie had moved into the house, she took Scarlet's old room. Scarlet took everything to New York so it only made the most sense.

The walls were white with black posters littering most of them. Her dresser was dark and held a huge mirror with skulls engraved around the frame. More posters with Anime characters hung on the closet door.
