Bowie's POV
7:07 am
"You gave it to him?" Stevie looked at me like I had five heads.
"Yes, I did." I placed my empty cereal bowl in the sink and turned to watch her pull on her work shoes.
I seriously needed to quit my job.
With the sponsorship money I was able to make a dent in my medical bills and student loan debt but I wasn't comfortable enough quitting just yet.
Although I needed all of the practice time I could get. The semifinals were in 2 weeks and I'd been relaxed in Hawaii. Now that we were back in Aspen I was slowly freaking out.
"Honestly, I would've thrown her number in the trash," She shrugged.
I pulled on my coat regretting ever leaving Hawaii and turned off the lights in the kitchen.
"I really debated it, but he should be the one to do it not me." Stevie and I entered the garage and quietly pulled out with my truck.
Scarlet had left for New York only a few hours after landing and wouldn't be back till my competition dates. Meanwhile Poppy and Whitney were still here wasting away on their winter break from school.
"I'm just saying," Stevie mumbled, putting dark lipstick on while looking at the mirror above the passenger seat. "I personally would not create a bridge between my boyfriend and the mother of his child."
We passed through our neighborhood and from this distance I could see the mountains poking through the clouds. The sun was barely out today, making me raise the heat dial in the car.
"I'm not getting involved in anything between them," I shrugged, making a right onto the main road. "She asked me to give him the number and I did. Whatever happens now is between them."
"You are wayyy too calm for me," She commented. "Those two have a complicated history and knowing what you know about how it ended and what she did, I would be a bit concerned. As a Scorpio, I'm a jealous bitch, and if my man was thinking about bringing his ex back into his life---the only person he's ever been in love with----I'd be scared."
"Why? It'd only be for Lilo."
"Because you and Nathan are fresh...like a baby bird with new wings. You guys have barely had time to hit the ground running and this happens?" She sucked her teeth and sighed. "It's a bit much. All I'm saying is it's okay if you feel jealous at some point."
"I don't get jealous..." I smiled with irritation.
"Uhhh....do you remember Jonah? Do I need to remind you of your days of watching his story to figure out if he was with—"
"No, you don't," I cut her off, laughing. "I'm saying that I don't get jealous for no reason. I was jealous for a reason when it came to Jonah. He was literally fucking Mia while sending me "I love you" good-night texts. I was too stupid to see it."
"And sometimes old insecurities can pop up like a nasty zit," She snarled. "So if you are feeling some type of way with Lealani don't be shocked."
"Well..." I hated that she was right in so many ways. I'd be lying if I said I was calm about all of this. "They need to figure their shit out regardless of my presence so..."
"Just understand that when you sign up for someone who has a child you are signing up for a whole other person that is attached to that child and everything that comes with that so..."
"Have you been speaking to Gram?" I gave her a quick side eye before refocusing on the road.
"No...but I just don't want you to think everything is going to be simple from here on out. Like if she comes back into the picture, things are going to shift and Nathan is going to have to refocus his priorities. He's gonna have to focus on what's best for Lilo and the right way to do things. It might hurt you to see those two together and I mean both him and Lealani and Lealani with Lilo. Your new relationship might take a back burner for a minute while he's figuring things out."
