Bowie's POV

I jumped on a turn and spun, my shoes hitting the wooden floor of the resort. Ozias stood in front of me, his hands out, eyes on my body as I moved.

"Again."

I spread my arms and held his hands, stabilizing my feet. Then I twisted my hips and turned again. He was testing how fast I was able to turn on a spin. It was much harder to do when you were attached to a snowboard though.

"How much time do we have again?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips.

There was so much commotion and conversation going on all around us. All of the riders prepping with their coaches and getting ready for the finals.

I'd finished the Semifinals this morning with a drop in my placement and it was fucking with my confidence.

"40 minutes," He answered, lifting my left arm straight up and stretching it over my head. I was in my athletic wear, long sleeve green workout shirt and my baggy snow pants. "Don't forget about positioning your feet."

I rolled my eyes and smiled. "I knowwww. Bill reminded me already this morning and Arthur points to my feet after every run."

It was something I had to be overly aware of and my biggest fault when riding. One wrong placement and I could end up slipping off the sides and hitting my head.

"You nervous?"

I smiled with my teeth, feigning calm. "I'm perfect. Not even a little bit nervous."

He squinted his eyes down at me and lifted my other arm, stretching it. My muscles were screaming at me, needing rest and reprieve. This morning's competition hit me hard.

My abdominal pain had subdued and I wasn't throwing up anymore but I was skeptical. How long would it last?

And for once in my life I couldn't wait for my oncology appointment in two days. Maybe then I could have some peace of mind.

"You're trying to kill me aren't you?"

Ozias laughed and looked over my head, releasing my arm. "Readying you is part of my job so...yes. Incoming."

It took me a split second to figure out what he meant when I turned to my left and felt an oncoming presence.

"Hey," Mia smiled brightly looking at both of us. Was she referring to me? Like actually speaking to me? "Just wanted to check in."

"Hi?" I eyed her strangely and pushed my ponytail of braids over my shoulder, hoping she would actually disappear

"Hi?" I eyed her strangely and pushed my ponytail of braids over my shoulder, hoping she would actually disappear. I didn't need her getting in my head right now. "You checking in on everyone else or do I just get the special treatment?" I smiled like a serial killer, waiting for her to take a hint.
