I was now standing back in the potions room, watching my Amortentia slowly spin as I stirred it in a circle. I heard the door open but didn't pay much attention as I was too focused on twirling the liquid. That was until I heard somebody clear their throat. I glanced at the door, noticing Professor Snape standing at the door, looking down at me. "Oh, hello."

He turned away from me and walked further into the classroom. "The students should be arriving soon. You are welcome to stay in the back as I teach." I nodded and stayed silent, not knowing what to say.

"Thank you." I furrowed my eyebrows as I turned to face the taller man who was now stood behind his desk. I nodded softly and went back to stirring. I heard him clear his throat once more as students began piling into the once empty room. Some of them waved to me and I bowed back jokingly. I noticed most of them were first years, apart from 3 second years who happened to slip in.

"You will be learning how to brew a boil cure. Most of you have no potential in this class, that is why you will only be working off of your more intelligent peers." I grimaced, noticing how he went right back to being the grumpy man most Hogwarts students knew him as. "If you turn to page 12, it is the first potion in the book. It's a beginners potion, as I have no trust in any of you to brew anything higher."

I sat my spoon down and covered my potion again, letting it sit for a bit as I listened to the class. I had no reason to, but I found it interesting how he treated the lower years as if they were incompetent, even though they got into Hogwarts in the first place. I noticed a short looking kid raise his hand, it was the same scruffy kid from the sorting ceremony just a few weeks ago.

"What could possibly be more important than my class?" I smiled, remembering how the professor had said something similar to me before.

"Sir, sorry. I was just wondering if you had a new assistant?"

He raised his eyebrow which made me burst out with laughter. Could you imagine? Severus having an assistant? He snapped his head over to me and glared. I shut my mouth and held the laughter in, my cheeks turning red from holding my breath.

"No. I do not have an assistant. That is a student who is finishing up a potion they failed to complete the first time." I rolled my eyes and turned back to the counter, checking on the potion. I uncovered it and stirred a few times as he continued with the lesson.

"The ingredients, as listed on the page, include: Dried Nettles, Snake Fangs, Horned Slugs and Porcupine Quills. IF you do the potion correctly, it will turn a blue color. Anything else and you have failed."

I heard a kid speak up in the back of the room, close to where I was. "Then if we fail we will have to redo the potion like this weirdo behind me?" I turned around and glared in the direction of the voice. It came from right in front of me, a Slytherin.

"Detention, Mr. Angus." The kid huffed and slumped into his seat. I smiled victoriously and continued stirring my potion. I heard the door open again, and this time I looked up. I saw Dumbledore smiling at me as I smiled back. "Professor Snape, do you mind if I borrow Y/N a moment?" I looked back at Snape, who was now staring at the headmaster with an unreadable look. "I don't see why not." I followed Dumbledore out of the room and we headed down the hall toward his office.

Walking in, he shut the door behind me and followed my lead to his desk. "Good afternoon, Y/N. I've called you in today for two important reasons. First, you're in your 6th year. This is the year of big opportunities. You've done very well and have been a worthy asset here at Hogwarts. I'd like to assign you the position of Slytherin Prefect. We had just lost our last one due to expulsion. Several professors, including myself, see you fit to take over. If you agree."

My eyes went wide and I immediately nodded, I've always wanted to be the Prefect. "Wonderful. Another thing. Also good news, I presume. I have talked to Madam Hooch recently. She has gone on forever about your Quidditch skills, as well as how much you add to the team. She'd like to make you Slytherin Quidditch Captain. Now I know this is a lot to take in, and she's agreed to easing you in, especially after the Prefect news." I nodded again, extremely surprised that I've gotten all this news at once.

It must be a dream.

I figured I'd wake up any second, but when Dumbledore dismissed me as the new Slytherin Prefect, I knew I wasn't sleeping. This was all real. My dreams are all coming true. I walked back to the potions room with a big smile plastered across my face. Getting there, I noticed the students were now leaving. I managed to slip in the door between a few of them and was now standing next to my potion, as happy as can be.

"What's gotten you so... ecstatic?" He spoke with no emotion, I assumed he had gotten upset over something the first-years had said, and dismissed the thought.

"I just became Slytherin Prefect AND Slytherin Quidditch Captain."

"Both at once? Are you sure you're able to handle all of that?" I smiled, getting the slight feeling that he was concerned about my health. "Yes, I'm quite sure." He looked away and went back to his desk, scribbling stuff down on paper. "Severus?" He quickly glanced up at me before going right back to the papers. "What are you writing?" Before I could even take a step closer, he had thrashed the paper into his chest, hiding it from my view. "Sheesh, old man. Calm down, I won't steal your cookies."

"I'm not old. I'm writing private notes. You are dismissed now. I'll take over your potion."

I frowned, quickly moving to speak up, "But, Sir. You never told me what I did wrong with the potion."

"Nothing, you did nothing wrong. You're dismissed, get out." I huffed before stomping out of the room, leaving the door open just out of spite. I walked back the Common Room happily. I still couldn't grasp the fact that I was now a Prefect and a Quidditch captain.
