Aurora

"

I told you to not let her in!" Logan slurs at Harry as he's perched on the sofa.

I turn back to see his best friend surrendering his hands.

"Well maybe it's good that she's here. I'm sorry you have to see him like this but he had some news today that he didn't take well."

"Fucking shut up Harry!"

This isn't Logan. He's drunk at 5.30pm in the afternoon. What the hell is going on?

"Logan, what's happened?" I crouch down to him on the sofa. His head hangs heavily over his arms which are held up on his knees. I sit beside him and place my palm on his back.

He flinches at my touch and stands.

"Mate, this is ruining everything. You need to stop this." Harry tells him as he staggers to the kitchen, pulling open the top cupboard and grabs a bottle of whiskey.

"I don't think you need that." I tell him quietly.

He slams the bottle down on the counter which makes me jump. Harry approaches me.

"Did he tell you we are all playing in the charity football match on Sunday?"

I nod, my eyes never leaving Logan's figure pacing around the kitchen.

"Well, we found out today that Jones is going to be there-"

"Who is that?" I ask him.

Before Harry can speak Logan shouts over at us.

"The fucking asshole my ex left me for!"

He throws the glass he had just poured on the floor watching it smash into a hundred pieces.

"Alright that's enough!" Harry yells.

Logan's head snaps up to his direction. I wrap my arms around my body, taking a step back. I don't like this. This isn't Logan.

"Your girlfriend is here and you are scaring her! Get fucking sober man, this isn't what you need to be doing right now!"

Logan swallows, looking from Harry to me.

"Aurora?" He voice thick with emotion and husky.

I can't move. My legs are frozen to the spot.

Logan stumbles over to me, running his hands through his hair.

"Baby?" He closes the gap towards me but I take a step back. He isn't thinking clearly right now.

"Maybe I should go-"

"No!" Logan pulls my arm but I snatch it away.

"Maybe you should see James tonight and talk through everything. I'll just see you tomorrow." I turn to leave, glancing back at him over my shoulder.

"Please stay here Aurora. I'll go but please be here when I get back."

He almost sobers up immediately, begging me to stay. I can't make my mind up what I should do. I came here to tell him about my working day, to spend the night with him to ask him about his day, not a drunken, angry version of himself who doesn't want to be around me.

"Please stay here, I'll take him to James and then bring him back here." Harry says to me.

I nod. Logan grabs his phone and keys as Harry leaves the room.

"I'm so sorry baby. I'll be back soon." He kisses me cheek as he leaves.

The door slams shut and I exhale. I didn't realise I was holding my breath. My eyes prick with tears, my heart aches seeing Logan like that, thinking he has to drink to numb the pain of what his ex and this Jones guy did to him. Sunday is going to be difficult if he is going to be there too. Logan hasn't even seen him yet and he resorted to getting wasted all afternoon. I'm just thankful Harry was here with him so he didn't do anything stupid.
