Laid here with Aurora in my arms, I listen to the rain tapping on my window while gently stroking my thumb on her arm. She is sleeping peacefully on my chest, her breathing calm and steady.

What a fucking night we had last night. From us flirting and dancing together, which by the way was amazing, to her asshole ex attacking her, to our confessions of our struggles in life. No wonder Aurora is still asleep at 10.30am.

My head is still reeling from everything that happened. When I saw her ex with his hands on her, I have never felt fury like I did in that moment. I know I have more feelings than I should at this point and I don't know when or how it all happened.

I'm just fucking glad I trusted my gut and went looking for her. I just knew something wasn't right.

Even though we slept in the same bed last night, we didn't have sex. Of course we kissed some more, but I didn't want her to regret being with me and she went through a lot last night, it just wasn't the right time. Don't get me wrong, I fucking want her again. It has been a while now since our night together, but it doesn't mean I forgot everything about her that night.

Aurora stirs in my arms, her eyes slowly opening, the realization on her face hits as she remembers where she actually is.

My eyes gazing at her beautiful face, as she stretches out her limbs.

"Morning baby." I kiss her hair gently.

"Morning." She mumbles quietly.

"Are you feeling alright?"

She nods into my body. Something is up. She isn't meeting my eyes and she's too quiet.

"Aurora?" I bring my other hand to tilt her chin carefully to meet my gaze.

She raises her brows in question.

"Is everything alright-"

"I should probably go." The warmth of her leaves my body as she speaks, pressing up off the bed. My brows furrow as I sit my body up.

"Hey, what's-"

"Sorry, I shouldn't have stayed. I shouldn't have said-"

She cuts herself off, running her fingers through her hair. Does she regret being here with me?

"Hey." I jump out of my bed and rush over to her, my hands rubbing her arms.

"Hey, come on. Everything is ok isn't it?"

She stares at me with no emotion on her face.

"Let's have a coffee and-"

"What time is it?" She cuts me off as I speak. I'm so confused at why she is spiraling right now.

"Nearly 11am. Please calm down-"

She curses under her breath as she dashes into the living area.

Following her closely, she picks up her bag and pulls out her phone.

"Shit. Come on, come on." She holds her phone up to her ear. I stand watching her as she starts pacing up and down.

"Hi! I'm alright, I'm alright! I'm so sorry Aunt Nic, I didn't mean to stay out and I forgot to text you. I'm so so sorry."

Fuck, what a great woman. I thought she was regretting staying the night with me when the reality is, she is worried that she forgot to tell her Aunt she was staying here.

Giving them some privacy, I wander into my kitchen to make us some coffee.

A few minutes later, Aurora appears in the kitchen silently as she stands at the island opposite me.
