8. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐞 𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨

You quickly ran in the direction of your house, simultaneously looking out for Midoriya or All Might.

But on the way, chill shot down your spine.

"!"
"My Midoriya senses are tingling!" You whispered, turning towards the city at the sound of an explosion. "Oh no..."

You quickly began running in that direction, hoping to get there faster than you were.

'Hurry! What if something bad happened?! You need to keep your promise! Protect Midoriya! Protect him! Protect him!'

A girl yelped as a black dog flooded the streets, a f/c cheetah with a/f/c spots bursting out a second later.

"W-What just happened?" You heard faintly, the surrounded area passing in a flash as you were on the scene in a minute.

'Midoriya! Where's Midoriya?!'

"Is that a leopard?!"

"You idiot! That's obviously a cheetah!"

"Ah!! Two disasters at once?!"

Ignoring their panicked shrieks, you pushed though the crowd and meowed.

Once in the front, you wandered why the sense went off until he broke through the crowd and rushed forward with no hesitation.

"Meow!!" You cursed the language of the cheetah and kept forward as well, avoiding the flames as best you could while following him up to the villain.
'Wha-- Katsuki?!'

Your eyes closed the closer you got, the fire being too hot to handle for the time being.

'I can't help if I can't see anything..!' you thought, lighting up at an idea that shot through your mind.

You quickly shifted back into your human form and as soon as it returned, it disappeared again to reveal a large dragon.

"Eh?! That's someone's quirk? I knew the thing didn't look natural!" One of the heroes said.

"Y/n?" Midoriya looked up into your intense eyes and shivered at the murderous glint in them.

Before you could take action, a strong gust of wind

"I really am pathetic." All Might said, making you falter and huff a steaming breath.

"All Might..."

"Even though I admonished you, I wasn't putting what I said into practice!" He shouted, pulling Bakugou out from the villain in it's surprised stupor. "Pros are always risking their lives! All Might!" You quickly wrapped your body around Midoriya, claws embedding themselves in the ground as Mt. Lady used her arms to do the same. "Detroit Smash!"

Once the smoke cleared, everyone on the sight looked at All Might in shock.

It began to rain, making you flinch at the smoke that emitted from your scales.

"Rain?"

"Don't tell ne it's from the wind pressure just now?" One of the civilians said.

"An updraft developed and..."

"Hey, hey, hey! Amazing!"

"That's All Might for you!"

Said hero bagan to stumbled, causing a small rumble to erupt from your throat as you nudged him upright.

He raised his fist victorious, making the civilians louder than before with their cheers.

"Jeez, there's a limit to how rash you can be!" Kamui lectured as you bowed in apology.

"There was absolutely no reason for you two to put yourselves in danger!"

"I apologize, sir. But that boy over there is our friend and we couldn't help but try to get him out of that situation." You said before bowing again. "Again, I apologize."

You and Midoriya were walking home, a comfortable silence filling the air--

"Deku! Y/n!" Nevermind.

"Kacchan?" Midoriya turned around and you did too.

"I never asked for your help! And you didn't help me! Got it?! I was fine by myself! You're a quirkless failure playing without a full deck and just cause you can be whatever you want doesn't mean you'll upstage me! Don't think you can look down on me either! Are you trying to make it so I owe you?!" His eyes narrowed into an even meaner glare. "Don't look down on me! Damn nerds!"

He then turned around and started gremlin-walking away.

"I promised to protect you, Katsuki." He paused and turned slightly to look at you. "You don't have to see it that way, but it's what I'll do. It's what I can do." You smiled.

He stared for a moment then turned around and continued walking away.

Midoriya snuled fondly then continued walking.

You watched him for a moment then started walking as well.

"Hey, Midoriya? Do you remember when we were youn--"

"I am here!"

You squeaked and Midoriya yelped.

"All Might..." You muttered.

"Why are you here?" He asked. "You were surround by reporters just down..."

All Might laughed, "Getting away from thrn wad a piece of cake. Why? Because I am All Migh--"

He suddenly poofed into... a deflated All Might?

Either way, you screamed as blood spurted from his mouth.

"W-W...." You couldn't even form the question and loojed between Midoriya and All Might.

He wiped his mouth and looked at you also.

"I guess I should explain..." He muttered. You managed to keep your composure and just nodded. "I am All Might in case you were curious about that. I think you can tell that I didn't want that to happen,"

"Yes..." You said.

"Uh... the best way I can explain is the same way I did for.. Midoriya, was it?"

"Yes." Said boy nodded.

"It's like the guys at the pool. They flex and posture to look buff and all? That's what I do." He explained.

"That happens all the time in gym class, hm?" You said, thinking back to all the times boys and occasionally girls tried showing off for-- "me?"

"Hm?" Midoriya asked.

You shrugged, feeling flustered at the obliviousness up until now.

"Either way..." He pointed at Midoriya. "I came with thanks, a correction, and a suggestion." He said. "If you two hadn't been there," and he pointed at Midoriya again. "If you hadn't told me about your life... I would've turned into a guy in a bodysuit who was all talk. Thank you."

"That can't be. It was my fault in the first place..!" He said then looked at the ground. "I got in the way of your work... and I said all those impertinent things even though I'm quirkless..."

"That's right. It was because it was none other than two timid kids at the scene that I was able to act." You fiddled with your bag bashfully. "Top heroes have stories about them from their school days. Most of their stories have one thing in common. Their bodies moved before they had a chance to think."

Midoriya's eyes shined with tears as he faced the ground.

You patted his back before reaching for his hand. He brought it to his chest before you could, and you recoiled while feeling a hint of embarrassment.

"That was true for you, too, wasn't it?"

"Yeah..!" He sobbed.

"Midoriya..."

He dropped onto the ground in prominent tears, trying to contain the following wails.

"You can become a hero."
