29. 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬

"In fourth place, team Midoriya! These four teams... will advance... TO THE FINAL ROUND!!"

"Whey!" You deadpanned, patting Kaminari's hand before taking the other.

"C'mon, buddy. Let's go eat."

Your eyes trailed to Midoriya's position, an overwhelming feeling to snoop overcoming you.

"Here you go." You passed Kaminari to Kirishima and shifted into a lizard, crawling into the wall to listen in.

"So... what did you want to talk about?" Midoriya asked. Todorokip didn't respond and he laughed nervously. "If we don't hurry, the cafeteria will probably be really crowded..."

Silence...

"Um..."

"I was overpowered."

'Overpowered?'

"So much so that I broke my pledge."

'Pledge?'

"Iida, Kaminari, Yaoyorozu, Tokoyami, Uraraka, Y/n..."

'Why didn't you mention me first?' you puffed a tiny breath.

"None of them felt it."

'Yes I did!...felt what?'

"At that last instant, I was the one who was overpowered. Only me, who had experienced All Might's power up close."

'Oh... then I did notice. I know, in f-- HAH!!! TODOROKI KNOWS?!'

"What... does... that mean...?" Midoriya asked nervously.

"It means I felt something similar coming from you." He said. "Midoriya, are you..."

'Uh oh...'

"...All Might's secret love child or something?"

'Oh, thank goodness!' you sighed, then began thinking about how silly the accusation is.

"Well, are you?" Todoroki asked after just recieving silence.

"Th-That's not it!" Midoriya said.

You dropped onto the ground and shifted back.

"Nope, not a chance. Mrs. Midoriya said her husband is overseas." You explained. "Besides, even if he was, there's no way All Might would let him admit it."

"U-Uhm... hey, Todoroki, let me ask you something." Midoriya said. "Why do you think that about me?"

"Since you said, 'that's not how it is,' that means there's a connection between you two that you can't talk about, right?" He asked. You glanced between the two. "Endeavor's my old man. I'm sure you know that he's been stuck as the number two hero forever. If you ahve something from the number one hero, then I have even more reason to beat you."

You perked up, blinking a few times before standing to your full height.

"Speaking of, All Might and Endeavor are talking now." You muttered.

"He's in his rebellious stage right now, but he will definitely surpass you. I will make sure of it!"

You glared down the dark hallway and turned to Todoroki.

"Your father's a d*ck."

"Y/n!"

"My old man has a strong desire to rise in the world." He said, completely ignore the insult. "As a hero, he won the name for himself with crushing force. Because of that, the living legend, All Might, is a great eyesore to him. Since he couldn't surpass All Might, he moved onto his next plan."

"What are you talking about, Todoroki..? What are you trying to tell me?" Midoriya asked.

"You've heard of quirk marriages, right? That thing that become a problem for the second and third generation after superpowers appeared. Choosing a spouse based only on strengthening your own quirk and passing it onto your children, forcing people into marriage. The old-fashioned way of thinking brought about by a lack of ethics. He is a man with both accomplishments and money. He won over my mother's relatives and got a joke of my mother's quirk. He is trying to fulfill his own desire by raising me to be a hero to surpass All Might. It's so annoying..."

'Annoying? More like sad... and anger inducing.' You nodded. 'Yep, annoying.'

"I won't become the tool of scum like that." Todoroki hissed. "In my memories, my mother is always crying." He began. "'Your left side is unsightly', my mother said as she poured boiling water on me."

You flinched, somehow feeling the burn without actually feeling it.

"Basically, I picked a fight with you to show him what I can do, without using my damn old man's quirk..." There was a sudden shift in his sound, but it was only by slightly. "No... I'll reject him completely by winning first place without using it."

You looked down the hallway after noticing Bakugou's sound.

He then started walking away.

"I don't care if you can't tell me how you're connected to All Might. No matter what you are to All Might, I will rise above you with just my right side. Sorry for hurting you, L/n."

"Huh?" You blinked then nodded. "It's all good."

"You also shouldn't listen in on other people's conversations."

"Okay." He walked away and you looked at Midoriya. "Iz--"

"I..." He ran after Todoroki, leaving you to groan and rush to follow. "I have always been supported by others. That was the case earlier, too. I am here because of the people who have supported me." He spaced out for a few seconds before continuing. "Saving people with a fearless smile, the greatest hero... All Might. I want to be like him. In order to do that, I have to be strong enough to become number one. My motivation might seem trivial compared to yours, but I can't lose, either. I have to live up to the hopes of those who supported me."

You coyly fiddled with your sleeve.

'I was probably the most insignificant support, but I think I'm still a part of it...'

"That declaration of war you gave earlier... I'll return that. I will beat you, too!"

Your eyes flickered between the two and landed in Midoriya.

"Izuku." He looked at you confused. "Please listen to what I have to say. For once, just listen."

"Y/n..? What's wrong?" He asked, worried since you rarely show that much emotion.

"Do you remember when we were kids and we made that promise?" He nodded, cheeks flushing pink at the mention.

"We were some silly kids..." He joked.

'Ouch..'
"...yeah." you nodded. "We were pretty... stupid...."

"What were you gonna say?" Midoriya asked.

'I'm tempted, but... what if he..?'
'No... just get it over with. What's the worst that can happen?'
"Izu, I lo--!"
