Soobin's father stares out of the motel window. He doesn't remember how long it's been. His phone is dead.
How many days has it been?
It's been two days, three days, five?
Daeshim didn't know what to do. He couldn't feel but felt so much. He still wears the same suit and shirt he wore the last time he visited the asylum, or prison or asylum/prison.
It doesn't make a difference.
In moments like this, when he's felt this darkness overcome him, does he have the familiar desire to be closer to her.
It made him feel not so alone, yet so hopeless at the same time. It never was a good thing when he longed to see her.
He stares now, at the clock on the peeling wall. He knows visiting hours is opening soon. Today he plans to visit her once more.
Daeshim doesn't know how to face Soobin. He wishes to disappear. He came to the horrifying realization that he couldn't bring himself to look at Soobin again.
For a different reason this time.
I've failed him.
I've failed everyone.
He sits now. In the asylum's cold, tin colored, visiting room. She's before him now, looking worse than the last time.
She's handcuffed to the table now, there's a bandage over her left eye and her lips look white.
"Holy shit." Her voice rasps.
"You look like shit. Did you even take a shower since the last time you visited?" She asks coughing.
He just stares at her. "When was... the last time?"
She huffs, rolling her eyes, "Last week? Ring a bell?"
He nods then, just staring off now. She raises a brow, waiting for him to speak again. Say, anything.
"Did you even go back? I said don't come back without updates, Daeshim!" She snaps, voice still faint. Weak.
"What happened to you?" He speaks up.
She shakes her head, "I want updates on Junnie. Daeshim, please go back home. Go see them. Please... you're scaring me."
Daeshim looks down, his blood shot eyes feel like they're burning more now.
"I can't-" he chokes.
She spits at him then, his eyes widen. "You're selfish." She growls. Daeshim wipes at his cheek, like it's nothing he hasn't seen before.
"You are selfish." He responds, gaze sharp.
She laughs then, it's dark, and makes Daeshim's skin crawl. "Oh- you're hurting now? Need a blankey, a kiss? A tit to suck on? Cut that feeling sorry for yourself, crap- you always knew something was going on and you just denied. You denied everything. I at least never made my son feel ashamed of who he is."
Daeshim shakes his head, "Maybe you should've."
She leans back then, silent.
"What do... what do you mean you can't?" She whispers, eyes now trying to reach his but he looks at something else behind her. "You better not do something stupid like off yourself or some bullshit..."
Daeshim scoffs, "Why? You don't want them to get on your case again?"
She rolls her eyes, "it's not my fault your wife jumped into traffic..." she says, still hushed. "Shitty fucking mother she was."
