Kitsune's tale (Cyno x Reader)

Chapter 9

Just like that 2 more years passes for the two, Y/N is now 15 while Cyno is 16. The kitsune has gotten over her shyness and grown popular in the Sumeru community. Cyno would sigh to himself after purchasing the week's groceries as he sees Y/N using her hydro vision to dance with the town kids.

Y/N is also much more comfortable in her human form and since no one besides a few people knew of her kitsune side, she is treated with respect of a normal person. She loves helping out people, the busy shop venders, the old ladies, the lost children, it makes her happy to see a smile on their faces.

Cyno now studies ancient scriptures and texts at Sumeru Academiya while Y/N learns about curses and human psychology. Over the years, the boy has gradually warmed up to Y/N and he actually felt happy to have a friend, someone he could actually talk to. He would never admit that of course.

"Y/N stop messing around, we need to go." Cyno urges, waving the girl over, "Tighnari invited us to have lunch today so we have to get going now."

"Coming~" The girl replies as she bids the elderly women she was helping a farewell. Wiping her dirty hands on Cyno's cloak on purpose as he lets out an annoyed huff.

"You're lucky I tolerate you."

"Oh shut up you love me."

"Oh Cyno, Y/N! You guys are here." Tighnari says as he waves to them from a table at the restaurant.

"Tighnari hi!" The kitsune greets back with the same energy while Cyno acknowledge him with a nod. Pulling out the chair across from Tighnari, the girl sits down as Cyno does the same next to her.

"I haven't seen you guys in a while how have you been?" Tighnari asked.

"We've been fine, thank you for asking. The other day a rabbit stumbled into our home and I really really wanted to keep it as a pet." Y/N responded excitedly.

"Oh? What happened then?"

"Cyno cooked it."

Tighnari let out a chuckle as Cyno rolled his eyes. "Typical Cyno I guess..."

"You said you wanted to have rabbit for dinner." Cyno defends himself, scanning through the menu with a fed-up expression.

"No I said I wanted the rabbit to have dinner with us."

"Same thing."

"Not the same thing."

Tighnari could only laugh as he saw the two bicker, it was a normal occurrence between the pair and it was quite amusing to watch. Sometimes he wonders how those two get along at home.

"Anyways, you can have your turn with the menu now." Cyno says as he passes the menu to the boy.

"Hey what about me?" The kitsune protested from beside Cyno. "You don't plan on letting me starve do you?"

"When have you every gone hungry under my watch..." Cyno replied before listing out every single food Y/N likes to eat and all the foods she dislikes. "You're just going to be indecisive about the menu anyways."

Not having anything to retort, you sat back down on your chair defeated. Cyno smirks at your frustrated self before pulling out a deck of cards.

"No." Tighnari quickly rejects before the boy can open his mouth.

"Absolutely not." Y/N chimes in, scooting her chair away from Cyno in fear.

"What's wrong with my deck of cards?"

"You... Cyno... You are the problem." The foxes say in unison.

After lunch, the trio decides to take a stroll around the city and catch each other up on their respective lives. Although it was mostly Y/N and Tighnari talking, Cyno still occasionally join in to show that he is actually listening.

As the three walks through a busier area, Y/N separates from them and goes up to a group of children. Soon enough, the kitsune and the kids were laughing and jumping in joy as they played around with each other.

Cyno lets out a sigh as he and Tighnari watch them from afar. "I miss when she was shy." He says as he sits down and leans against a tree.

Tighnari does the same as he replies."Oh I remember that," he laughs "she was so attached to you that she couldn't go out in public without you."

"You liked that didn't you?~" he teases.

"Did not." Cyno denies, side-eyeing Tighnari as if he had just said the most ridiculous thing.

"Did too."

"Did not."

"Did too~"

"Did not!"

The two bickers back and fourth until a particular question drew their attentions back to Y/N. "Big Sis Y/N," A little girl who was making Y/N a flower crown asks "can you marry my big brother so that you'll be my actual big sister?"

"..."

Silence falls on everyone as the children (and Cyno) eagerly await for the girl's answer.

"I don't think I can do that." Y/N lets out a nervous laugh.

"Why not?" The little girl protests. "Everyone says he's super handsome and very smart. He's... He's tall too! Like that guy over there but a little taller." She says as she points at Cyno who was trying to hide his agitated expression.

Tighnari watches in silence as the scene unfolds. Y/N stares at the determined child with confusion and awkwardness as she continues to advertise her big brother. Help me please.

"He can make a lot of money! He'll uhhh make sure you always have clothes and, and, that you're never hungry!"

"Hmm... I'll think about it..." Y/N says awkwardly, trying to change the subject.

"But-" The little girl tries to press on, but was quickly interrupted by Cyno suddenly appearing behind Y/N.

"Y/N we have to go, Tighnari says he'll treat us to icecream." The boy says, grabbing onto Y/N's forearm and pulling her up from the ground.

"Hey you can't take her!" A smaller hand grabbed onto your other arm. "We're not done talking yet!" Soon enough, you became the rope to a tug-of-war game with a 16-year-old boy fighting against a 7-year-old girl.

"Big sis Y/N get a divorce with him so you can be with my big brother!"

"She is not getting a divorce, she's coming with me." Cyno snapped back.

"No you can't do that!"

"I can do what I want."

"That's not fair."

"You better shut the fu-"

"WOAH, woah. Let's all calm down now shall we." Tighnari interjects, rescuing poor Y/N and quickly dragging the two away before Cyno could cause another argument.

"I am so done with you two and since when did I agree to buying icecream?!"
