Kitsune's tale (Cyno x Reader)

Chapter 11

Just like that, one more year passed for the two. Cyno is now one of the top scholars at the academiya with a reputation of being intelligent but intimidating. He's respected among all but not many approached him due to his intense atmosphere, those who did usually left in a hurry despite the boy's sincerity. 

Meanwhile, Y/N is seen as one of the kindest and most outgoing girls the academy has see in years. People would come to her with ease and had no problems socializing with the girl. Despite her popularity, Y/N never gave in to the admiration and continue to work diligently like anyone else. 

Her bright smile has become a staple among the younger kids and she is known to help people with her hydro vision. You need your crops watered? The river dried up again? The water supply started leaking again? No problem. 

Though the girl never lost track of her priorities. Cyno is always the first person she went to whenever and wherever. It left some people confuse and some a little angry, but they were in no place to judge. 

"Hey Cyno! A letter came in for us today." Y/N says as she sit down across the boy. It was almost sunset and the two usually take this time to study and finish assignments. 

"What does it say?" The boy asks as he continues to scribble on a piece of paper. 

"It says..." Y/N pause as she reads the contents of the letter. "It says they want to send us to Mondstadt?"

This catches Cyno's attention and he looks up from his paperwork. "To Mondstadt? What for?" 

"Apparently Lisa, one of the former scholars requested for assistance in a certain matter. It's about a girl who's currently infested with archon residue and needs it removed."

"Lisa?"

"Yea. She's one of the most talented people Sumeru has ever seen and quite the talk amongs the teachers." Y/N replies as she examines the paper closer. "They say she's now a librarian at Mondstadt."

"I see... When do we depart?" 

"It says as soon as possible." 

"Then we can go shopping for supplies tomorrow and leave the day after." The boy decides.

"Yea that sounds good! Oh I'm so excited. Do you think they'll have different kinds of flowers there?" Y/N asks as she clasps her hands together in excitement

"I'm sure there will be." Cyno answers before diving back into the book. A sign of the end of the conversation. 

"Let's go let's go!" Y/N urges as she drags Cyno along. The boy only sighs as he follows the girl's lead, hoping she knows the actual directions and aren't dragging them down a random path.

"Slow down Y/N. Mondstadt isn't going to run away you know." He mumbles.

"But still, I can't wait. I haven't been to any other nations except for Inazuma and Sumeru and I wonder what Mondstadt's going to be like." 

"I'm sure it's nothing special, but hopefully there are more books to read there." 

"You and your boring old books." Y/N says rolling her eyes playfully. 

"Oh shush, it's not like your book selections are any better." No boy argues back. "Remember the time I caught you reading that really weird romance book?"

"And remember that time when I caught you reading it after you stole the book from me?" 

"By 'the book', you mean the explicit sexual story from the 18+ section in the library?" Cyno teases.

"You shouldn't snoop in someone else's things!" Y/N stammers, trying to defend herself as she felt her cheeks burn.

Cyno raises an eyebrow at the angry girl. "Maybe you shouldn't read mature content in the future then." He says as he flicks Y/N's forehead. 

"I was just curious!" 

"Stay away from those things, they'll ruin your mind."

"Nothing can ruin my mind more than your stupid cryo slime jokes!"

"My jokes are great." Cyno says flatly, "you just don't know how to appreciate things."

"Yea sure..."

A/N: It gets a little suggestive from here. It won't affect the story though so please skip if you feel uncomfortable.

"Hey Cyno, how many more days until we reach Mondstadt?"

"One more day and we'll be there." The boy replies. The two decided to spend the night at Wanshun Inn since it was already dark and Cyno refused to let them travel any further. 

Y/N and Cyno sat in comfortable silence on the bed as they admire the view from the hotel window. The night breeze was chilly and the girl couldn't help but shiver. Although Liyue was beautiful it was much colder than Sumeru, Dragonspine around the corner also didn't help much. 

"Are you cold?" Cyno asks, breaking the silence and looking at the girl beside him.

"Just a little, nothing to worry about." 

"Alright then." Cyno mutters, taking off his cloak and placing it on Y/N instead. 

As he did so, he couldn't help but admire the girl. She was truly breathtaking. Cyno could probably stare at the Kitsune all day if given the chance but Y/N would probably call him creepy and turn back into a fox before he can even defend himself. Before he knew it, his train of thoughts led somewhere not ideal, though it was quickly cutoff when Y/N spoke again.

"Cyno?" Y/N asks. 

Has he been caught?

"Cyno are you having weird thoughts about me?" The girl teases as she watch Cyno's face contort into one of shock and surprise. Little hints of pink dots his cheeks before he pulls the hood of his cape down on Y/N's face so it covers her eyes.

This was a complete wild guess and more of a joke on Y/N's part, but if her guess was like an arrow then she hit right on the bullseye. He was caught.

"Don't talk nonsense." He tries to deny. 

"Sure." Giggling, the girl throws herself onto Cyno in a playful manner as they both fall onto the bed. Somehow the two ended up with Cyno's back pressed against the sheets and Y/N sitting on his stomach.

Now completely flustered, the poor boy tries to remove Y/N by gently bringing his hands to her hips and lifting her up, only to be rejected when the girl moves down instead. 

"Y/N." Cyno warns, trying to convince her to move before he does something else. 

 "Aww you're all red." Y/N laughs not realizing the weight of the situation. 

"Y/N stop moving around." Cyno complains, digging his nails into his palms, hoping pain would distract him from whatever he was feeling. 

"You know, Ms.Yae gave me a handbook before I left Inazuma. Page 65-74 is titled 'how to seduce a man in 25 ways. Would you like a demonstration?" The girl smirks.

Cyno only stares at Y/N with an angry but flustered expression. His eyes tell a different story though, he looks almost... hungry? Though the oblivious kitsune couldn't tell, she was far too innocent to decipher any teenage-boy-feelings.

Sighing and giving up, "That's what you get for teasing me all the time." Y/N whispers before sliding off Cyno and nuzzling into his arms as she drifts off to sleep. 

Seeing the girl somehow fast asleep, Cyno let out a breath he hasn't know he's been holding and covers his burning face with his arm. 

What am I going to do with you. 

Fun facts:

- Cyno finds it annoying when Y/N takes up 90% of the bed, but then proceeds to also give his portion of the blanket to her. 

- Y/N dies a little when Cyno tries to tell a joke to a stranger
