Kitsune's tale (Cyno x Reader)

Chapter 5

Suddenly, the sky turned red and a huge wave of flame came towards the group. Everyone braced for impact as Cyno used himself to shield you. 

But the impact never came... Instead, a large shield of electro coated the group as a voice spoke to the lot.

"It appears things have gotten quite hectic in Sumeru." It was a female's voice

"A shame I can't come and aid you now, things in Inazuma aren't any better." That voice...

"Why don't you help out your friends? It would be most saddening to me if you returned heartbroken." You recognized that voice, it belonged to no other than Lady Yae, your late mother's friend.

Everyone looked around in confusion as they wondered where the voice came from. 

"I would do that but Cyno threaten to grill me earlier this week, so I'm not feeling like it." A higher pitch voice replied back while Cyno frowned in confusion. Who did I grill now?

"You've been in that form for so long, why not come out and stretch your legs a little?" Yae asked in a tauntingl but playful manner.

There was silence before the voice decided to reply again.

"I don't want to have to leave again though..." This time it sounded a little more unsure. 

"Darling I can assure you that you will not be leaving Sumeru anytime soon." Yae dismissed.

After a few more back and fourths the two voices finally pause before the higher pitched one spoke once more.

"I suppose I can't just watch my home burn..." The voice answered back in a decisive tone. "I've been in good hands ever since I came here."

"Very well, I see you've made your decision." The more mature voice replied. "The shield will hold up for another 5 minutes. The rest is up to you."

"Understood Ms.Yae."

"Oh don't call me that it makes me feel old." Yae said before her voice faded.

The entire group looked around in confusion, some with tears in their eyes as they thanked the mysterious electro shield. Have they gone insane? Whatever, at least their lives were saved.

"Who was speaking just now?" Tighnari asked, breaking the silence and mentioning the elephant in the room.

Everyone paused once more before scanning the environment once again.

"I was." A voice said from behind Cyno, making everyone jump.

In front of them stood a young girl who looked no more than 13. She had a gold bracelet on her wrist and a hydro vision displayed proudly, she also gave off a particularly familiar vibe...and looked a little familiar...

The group of people stood silent for a good minute gawking at the girl while Y/N looks back with a smile.

Cyno is the first one to break the silence, "Who are you?" He asks with shock and confusion.

"..."

"Are you serious." Y/N responds with an unimpressed expression on her face. "You threaten to cook me the other day and now you don't know who I am."

Tighnari looks at the girl and then looks at Cyno, head moving back and fourth as he waits for the conversation to progress. 

Wait... Cyno paused before the wave of realization hit him.

Oh shit. Fuck. What the fuck? HUH? Since when? , A train of thoughts hit the boy as he widens his eyes in shock. "You don't happen to be-"

"I'm Y/N, your one and only."

"Why are you a hu-" The confused boy try to ask once more but was cut off by a large booming sound.

"Anddddd that is the end of my dramatic reveal" The kitsune said with a sigh. "All that built up tension just to get destroyed by a stupid pyro thingy."

"I can take care of the pyro energy, there's slimes and hilichurls lurking around though." Y/N continued. "I heard some about 24.56 meters to the west from here, and some 18.7 meters to the north. They should be closing in on us soon. Take care of those for me please."

"You have good ears too?" Tighnari asked in excitement, only to get cut off when a hilichurl jumped at him. 

Besides her Hydro vision, Y/N is also capable of wielding her kitsune abilities. Though her powers were suppose to grow with age and time, she had more than enough to help her through this battle. 

With her abilities, she is able to boost her physical strength and improve her stamina twice of what she possess normally. Though it does give a backlash of exhaustion in the following day, the consequences are worth the actions.

Summoning a wave of hydro energy, Y/N quickly extinguished the deadly heat source. Meanwhile, she using her Kitsune energy to boost her elemental powers, washing out the nearby landscape and cooling down the area. 

It was quite an underwhelming fight to say the least, with Cyno and Tighnari taking care of most of the monsters it was easy to get rid of the target. 

In the end, everyone managed to fend off the monsters and the strange orb in question was taken by the academiya to conduct "further investigations". 

"I haven't used human legs in so long I don't like this." Y/N complained as she dragged herself back to Cyno. "Cyno hold me."

There was still heavy confusion laced in the air, if they were a cartoon right now, there would be question marks popping out of everyone's heads. Y/N however, was not affected by the atmosphere and walked herself right into Cyno's arms before turning back into her kitsune form.

"I want to go home now." The fox said as she snuggled against the shocked boy.

The other men seeing the situation clear up, all left to go back to their respective homes, no doubt having more  to help with once they were back. Only Tighnari remained to keep an eye on his friend.

Another good five minutes passed as everyone looked at one another before Cyno regained his ability to speak.

"Y/N...?"

"Hmm?"

"Why... didn't you ever tell me you were a human?"

"Half-human."

"... other half?"

"Kitsune."

"But why didn't you say anything?"

"I... forgot?"

"You forgot?!"

The two went back and fourth with questions and answers before Tighnari finally reached his limit, the poor boy interrupted the two by probably the worst way possible. "But Y/N you're so pretty why don't you show your human side more often? Hey look! We're both foxes! We should hangout more often since we have so much in common don't you think?"

"..."

"..."

"Are you flirting with my fox right now?" Cyno asked in a flat tone. Tightening his grip on Y/N.

"Kitsune." Y/N was quick to correct. "Loosen up you're messing up my fur."

Huh? Before Tighnari could defend himself, Cyno was already walking away. "We're going home now, bye."

Andddd he back Tighnari thought to himself. At least he's back to his normal self?

- It dawned on Cyno that every embarrassing moment of himself that Y/N ever witnessed was probably never going to be forgotten now that she can actually talk.
