DAY ONE [declan rice]

Anna's POV
10th February 2021

It's been a week since my mum died and it still hasn't hit me that my mum is actually gone.

Dec hasn't gone to training for past week so he can be with me but his manager called and said he needs to come to training because they have a match in a few days.

He doesn't want to go because today I need to move my stuff out my old house because my mum isn't here to pay rent so I got evicted.

He's worried about me going by myself but he's meeting me there so I don't be alone packing my things for ages.

"Will you be ok today?" Dec asks me for the 10th time today.

"I'll be fine, you need to train and I need to do my job which is look after trouble." I laugh and look at Theo who is playing with his toys in the living room.

"Ok, as long as your sure." He kisses my forehead and says goodbye.

When I hear the front door close I release a breath I didn't know I was holding. 

"We'll be ok today, won't we Theo?" He looks at me when I say his name and starts to giggle.

I take Theo upstairs to get him ready to leave.

He isn't potty trained just yet so I need to pack a nappy bag for him incase he needs the toilet when we're there.

I put everything I need into the bag and double check multiple times so I don't forget anything.

Just as we're about to leave Theo decides that we're not going right now because I have to clean his nappy as he's just been to the toilet.

I put a clean nappy on him and take him downstairs again.

"Are we ready to go now?" I ask Theo as he replies.
"Yes mummy." I put him into his car seat that Dec put in my car this morning and drive to the old house. 

On the drive to the old house, I get a weird feeling but the feeling is unknown to me.

It's like a sting in my chest that won't go away.

It definitely feels weird going to this house again but I don't think much off it.

When we get there I sit in the car for a minute and take some deep breaths before getting me and Theo out of the car.

I unlock the door and the smell of my mum hits me and I start to get emotional.

"Your ok mama." Theo places his hand on my cheek as I smile.

He's going to be such a gentleman like Ben when he's older.

I go upstairs and go into my room and it's just how I felt it that morning.

I open one of the boxes and begin to pack everything up whilst Theo is sat in the corner playing with his toys that I brought with us.

Dec's POV

I get in my car after training and go to the address that Anna messaged me this morning.

I'm quite nervous because I don't know how she will be but she needed to get her things before they got thrown.

I walk in since she left the door unlocked so I could get in and walk upstairs.

I go into the first room which I think is her old room.

It's all packed and Theo is playing with his toys on the bed.

"Dada!" I pick him up as he does his grabby hands and go into the next room which is her mums old room.

I find her lying on the unmade bed wearing a cardigan I've never seen before.

"Are you ok darling?" I hear her sniffle and I put Theo down as I realise she's crying.

I lay behind her and hold her as I know that's what she needs.

No one says anything for awhile expect Theo giggling at something.

"It just hit me." That's all she says whilst she turns around so she's facing me and she lays on my chest.

"I know, I'm sorry Princess." I kiss her forehead and hold her.

We lie here for awhile but when she feels ready she gets up and continues packing everything.

I help her and when we're done I take all the boxes and put them into our cars.

Anna gets Theo and straps him into his car seat in her car.

"Are you going to be ok driving home?" I'm worried that with the condition she's in something will happen to her and Theo.

"Yeah I'll be ok." She shows me a little smile and gets into her car.

When we get back it's quite later so I put something quick in the oven for tea.

Whilst it's cooking I bring all the boxes in and put them in a spare room to be sorted out tomorrow.

Anna lies in her bed with her mums cardigan on and refuses to take it off.

Once Theo is fed I put him in his room and put him in his room.

Anna must of heard us come upstairs because she walks in to kiss him goodnight which I'm glad because he won't sleep without it.

"Goodnight mummy, I love you." She looks at me with tears in her eyes and I smile at her.

She definitely needed that today.

"I love you too." She walks out and I follow behind her and turn off his light.

"Can I sleep with you tonight? I don't want to be alone." I smile at her.

"Of course you can." She comes into my room and gets into the bed.

I get into my pyjamas in the bathroom and get into the bed.

Anna cuddles into me and rests her head on my naked chest.

"Goodnight Dec." She says sleepily and it's very cute.

"Goodnight Anna."

I'm falling for this girl.
