Getting out of the taxi, Levi grabbed his duffle bag, paid the taxi man and got out. Walking to the front door of his home where his mum Amelia or Mama Mia, as she is known by everyone and his sister Mia lives.
It used to be him, his mum and his sister. But since he got accepted at his current University after two years of being away from anything school-related, Levi had finally decided to enrol at University.
Unlocking the front door with his spare key, Levi placed his keys on one of the hooks before walking further into the house. Rounding the corner, he walked into the kitchen and saw his mum hunched over the counter washing fruits that would be served later after dinner.
"Mama, I missed you," Said Levi hugging his mum from behind.
"Oh, my dear boy, why did you silently show up? You should've let me know when you were coming," said Amelia wiping her hands on her apron before she turned to hug her son.
"I wanted to surprise you, mum; how are you? Where's Mia"
"She will be down shortly. Oh, honey, I'm sorry about the changes that have happened to you. I wish I were there to help you get through it."
"It has passed, Mama. I was able to get through it. But I don't understand why it is happening now, and not when I turned eighteen like everyone else. Is there something wrong with me?"
Amelia looked at the son with an expression only a mother can pull off and indicated for him to sit down; pulling out the chair for herself, she opened her mouth to explain when a voice came at the entrance of the kitchen room.
"Hello, what are you two discussing? I could hear it all the way from my room." Asked Mia, a woman of similar structure to Levi with long wavy hair styled into a messy bun with a few strands of hair falling around her oval, heart-shaped face.
"Mia," said Levi hugging his sister.
"Hey, little brother, why didn't you let me or mum know you were coming today."
"I had an early start to the semester break and thought I'd come early."
"I see, so what were you talking about."
"Mia, your brother, recently had his first heat; he is an Omega."
"What is wrong with that? Being an Omega is good news; our family is one of the few in the neighbourhood to have all three species in one house. Dad was an Alpha. You and I are Betas mum, and now Levi is an Omega."
"But why now, after three years of thinking that I am a Beta, why now did my body suddenly decide to go in heat? Mum, was I ever sick or have any medical problems when I was younger that led to me being too delayed."
"Levi, honey, please sit down first. When you were three, our family went on a camping trip; your father and I had set up our tents a few meters away from the riverside. While your father and I were unpacking, you and Mia were playing by the riverside when suddenly, you fell into the freezing water. Mia ran to us a few seconds after you fell, screaming that you had fallen in the water.
Your father and a few other people present at that time jumped into the freezing water and fished you out.
Your father had searched for you for five minutes in the water before he could find you sinking to the bottom of the water a few meters away from where you fell. We took you to the nearest hospital.
Your body had shut down, and you fell into a coma, only to wake up a week later. When you woke up, you only said three words."
"What did I say?" Asked Levi.
Amelia looked at her son before replying.
"Who am I."
"I had amnesia," said Levi
"Yes though the doctors said it was temporarily, you never showed signs of remembering who we are or who you were until a particular doctor looked at our case and suggested that we infused your father's blood into your body. It is said that the blood of an Alpha could heal almost anything.
After that, we went ahead with the procedures, and you finally regained your memories not long after."
"The side effect was that the Alpha blood running through my body at that time would musk my Omega scent making everyone think I was either an Alpha or a Beta like you and Mia and delayed who I truly am."
"Yes, that is correct."
"By the way, how did you get through your first heat? I know you need an Alpha to help relieve the pain going through your body if you do not have any medicine to help deal with it." Asked Mia.
"Mum, Mia, I know that I should've told the both of you this, but during my second heat cycle, I was marked by an Alpha which made everything bearable," confessed Levi pulling down his shirt to reveal the mark on his shoulder.
"Oh my goodness," said Amelia
"Damn, I thought I would find someone before you since I'm the oldest," said Mia.
"Mia, honey, this is not the time to be funny; Levi, honey, who is this Alpha that marked you? Where are they now, and do his parents know what he has done.?"
"I don't know much about him. Everything was happening too quickly. I don't understand, mum. He only marked me what is the big deal in that."
"Levi, when an Alpha marks you, he is displaying his ownership over you. In many cases, both parties involved have to have a mutual understanding before going any further. An Omega can only be marked once in their lifetime." Explain Amelia.
"Damn, Levi, I didn't know you had it in you to seal the deal with a stranger."
"Mia, enough; help me with dinner or go back to your room, Levi honey, you must be hungry. I will get dinner started. You go and make yourself comfortable."
"Thanks, mum," said Levi picking up his duffle bag from the ground and turning to leave but not before sticking his tongue out at his sister did he finally disappeared out of sight.
