Levi and Dante were looking forward to returning home from their heartwarming visit to the orphanage, but as they stepped through the front door, they were met with tension and drama. Levi's sister had argued with her fiance. The atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable. Despite exhaustion from the day's events, Levi and Dante tried to diffuse the situation.

Once they entered the house, they heard arguments from the living room; looking at Dante, Levi quickly approached where the voices came from and tried to assess the situation. As they both entered the room, the two people occupying the room turned to look at them.

Mia's eyes brightened once she saw who had entered, and her hands were clenched. She turned her gaze away from Dante and continued speaking to her fiance Eric.

"I told you I don't like it when you speak like that in front of our friends."

"Mia, I don't know what I did wrong. What is it exactly? Did I say that could have upset you like this?"

"You don't know? How can I choose to spend the rest of my life with you if this little mistake you don't even know? If it's like that, then why should we get married."

Eric felt a sense of panic and worry wash over him as he heard those words from his fiance. The woman he had fallen in love with is standing a few steps away from him, saying comments he thought he would never hear. Ever since he met Mia, she had never shown this side of herself to him; she always displayed an intelligent, kind and gentle demeanour to everyone around her.

"You are right; I was out of line today. Please excuse me," said Eric walking towards the door.

"Eric, wait," Levi said, grabbing his arm as he passed.

"Levi, let him go. There is nothing more I would like to say to him."

"Mia, Eric wait," said Levi running after Eric leaving Dante to deal with Mia.

Dante stood still, listening to Levi's footsteps running after Eric; once the footstep faded, he turned away from the person standing before him and made his way upstairs but was stopped by a voice calling out to him.

"Dante, you and Levi must be tired from your outing today. Have you guys eaten? I can make you something to eat if you like."

Turning back around, Dante looked at Levi's sister. After a long pause, he spoke.

"Eric is a wonderful man. Anyone can see that; you must be a fool to throw that away. Don't try to reach the moon when you can't even touch the stars."

"I. I don't know what you mean."

"Your attitude toward Eric only changed because you want something else. I'm here to tell you to forget about your desires. It will never come true. In this life, Levi is the only person who has my heart." Dante turned to leave again, only to pause his movements when he heard Mia speak.

"Who do you think you are? You think I fought with Eric because of you."

"Are you saying you didn't?"

Mia had always been an upfront, brave and blunt woman. She had never cowered or shown her weakness to anyone; the Alpha blood of her father and the Beta blood of her mother ran deep in her veins, making her a successful candidate to take up the position in the law firm currently owned by her fiancee Eric.

But after she meets the man standing before her, everything she thought she knew about herself is exposed at this moment by a man who belonged to non-other than her very own brother, a man she would like to encounter and be with at another time and universe.

"If only you and I had met earlier.."

"Even if I have not met him first, I will never choose you; a hundred of you will not equal one of him. The difference between you and him is that he has my heart, which I'm willing to give over and over until he no longers what or needs it. The difference between you and him is that I love him the way he is; I love his kind, innocent self, compassion, and selflessness in putting others before himself. I love him for being him. Do you understand that you will never compare to him." said Dante cutting Mia off before turning around again and making his way up the stairs towards Levi's room.

Levi successfully caught up to Eric before he was able to drive away. Stopping a few steps away, Levi took a deep breath before speaking.

"Eric, please don't go; I'm sure everything that happened today is just a misunderstanding. Please come back inside the house. I'm sure Mia didn't mean any of it and is waiting for you to return inside."

"I don't think talking is what she wants right now; I will go and give her some space. Hopefully, when I see her again, we can talk it out. Please thank your mother and tell her I have an emergency at home that needs my attention and will be leaving first." Said Eric turning to leave again.

"Eric, wait. If you go now and leave things the way they are, it will not do any good for the both of you," said Levi grabbing onto Eric's arm.

Eric looked at the hand that had grabbed onto him and the flushed face of the owner, a sense of being a Procter washing over Eric and the urge to protect this person from any heartbreak they might encounter—the feeling of being a big brother.

"Levi, what do you think you are doing."

Hearing the voice coming, Eric and Levi turned to look at Mia, walking towards them; realising what he was doing, Levi quickly let go of Eric and dropped his arm beside him.
