I went back again today. I sat in the chair. And I waited. For a few minutes, I stayed as still as she was. The air was weighing down on me, and I suddenly felt like a stranger.
I mean, I was a stranger. I was just the stranger who pulled her from the water. But I couldn't help worrying about her... hoping that she is okay. Even as a stranger.
So I looked at the door.
There was nobody around to hear me.
Softly, so low I doubt she heard it if she even could, I said, "Hey. I'm Sam."
