The waves pulled me under.
It was as simple as that. Suddenly, without warning. A riptide. I was swimming alone, and I shouldn't have gone out so far. But I've learned my lesson. After all of this, I've learned.
I just went out to paint the ocean... just for a few minutes before I had to go home. There was a lot to do, what with Rinehart college in my future and my job at the clinic.
But before I knew it, after just going in to swim for a second, to get out of the heat, a huge wave came. I must have hit my head when I went under, passed out. That's probably what happened.
The next thing I knew, I was hearing a voice.
It said, "Hey, I'm Sam."
