The girl I found on the beach wasn't a sign. She wasn't some tragic beginning to my stay in Bisou. It wasn't like she was a sign that warned me to turn back and go home.

I thought that, really, for a while. I wasn't sure when I stopped thinking it. Whether it was when she smiled or when her dog laid in my lap. I wasn't really sure about any of it.

But I was ready to find out.

I was ready for her to wake up.

I'd wait. Because she probably couldn't hear me. But if she did, I couldn't leave her now.
