It's been three months since Sans regained his forgotten memories. It had broadened his nightmarish realm quite a bit, but otherwise things remained mostly the same. Sometimes Sans sparred with Undyne, since she also had a sword. She gave him the equipment needed to take care of Retribution too which was pretty cool of her to do, though he suspected it was because he had a lot more of her respect being a war veteran and all. He told Alphys anything he could remember about Skeleton culture and history, Papyrus too, and about Allhalla itself. He also told Papyrus his childhood, even if he'd also seen it on that little screen. Papyrus liked the stories anyway. Especially now that they were on the Surface. They'd been asking if Sans was gonna go back, but he was firm in his stance. "no, i had my closure, there's nothing left there but broken memories of what was. i've moved on." Naturally, it was the kid that was pressing him to go. "But what if you and Papyrus aren't the only ones? What if there are others? Waiting for you?" He shook his head, giving them a firm warning look.

Sans checked the time. 2:57 in the morning. He wasn't awake for the usual reasons. Something was keeping him up, some sort of quiet sound was ringing, keeping him from sleep and it had been since they got to the Surface. A part of Sans wanted to pursue it, but he probably wouldn't make it anyway since the kid would probably just reset soon anyway. Sans sighed. It was another reason why he didn't want to go home. Allhalla was easily a month's walk from their location now. Granted he could take literal shortcuts through space but he hadn't been there in over a hundred years. He wasn't taking no vehicle there either. It simply wasn't a good idea. For a second the ringing seemed to get louder before settling again. It was driving Sans mad. What was that sound and how long could it keep up? It's been two months now. Months!! Sans turned away from the moonlit night and crawled back into his bed. He wasn't going to let some weird persistent noise keep him up any longer. He would get at least a little sleep tonight.

"Hey nerd! Ya gonna go to your Skeleton place yet?" Undyne asked. "nope." Sans laid his head across his arms. He didn't know why they were being so insistent. Almost more insistent than the ringing that constantly plagued him. Seriously, did they not hear it or something? Sans was going to say something about it, but thought better of it and decided to watch and wait to see if they were also affected by the strange sound. He'd been doing good at ignoring it during the day, but seriously why?! Sans bit back a groan of frustration and got some breakfast that he could distract himself with. "I THINK TODAY IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A HIKE! OR TRAINING! HUMAN, UNDYNE, BROTHER WILL YOU JOIN ME?" Sans quirked a brow. "sorry bro, but i didn't sleep well." Papyrus narrowed his sockets suspiciously. "YOU NEVER SLEEP WELL BROTHER." However it quickly changes to his usual cheery smile. "BUT OH WELL, UNDYNE?" Undyne punched the air. "YOU BET I'M IN! THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME! Alphys you coming?" She nodded quickly. "I'll come too! I could practice my dodging!" It was already safe to say Sans was the only one hearing the noise.

The house emptied out pretty quickly, leaving him alone. And Sans alone at the moment wasn't a good thing. The ringing only seemed to be getting louder, egging him on to follow it to its source. He tried to drown it out with comedy and music, even sound proof ear muffs. It only continued to get louder. Sans had enough. Fine. If it would get that noise to stop he would find its source. Sans packed a bag and grabbed Retribution, sending both into his inventory before taking a shortcut outside and summoning his old friend. Fright seemed happy to have her body back as Sans stroked her muzzle. "let's do this, hm?" The blaster let Sans on her and they took off. Sans never realized how much he missed this. Him and Fright, journeying together. All he was missing was Wingdings on his tail. Sans chuckled at fond memories before wincing at his reminder of the task at hand. "'nough playing around, we're going northbound." Fright happily complied with her master's command, sharply turning northward. "slightly east, fright. yeah, that's it. that way." Sans guided her direction as they finally got onto the trail to their destination.

Papyrus found it eerily quite when they got home that later that day. Sans wasn't loud, but he certainly wasn't this quiet either. The youngest Skeleton looked around the house for his brother, but it was empty. Sans wasn't there. Papyrus next step was to call Grillby and see if Sans was there. "I'm afraid I haven't seen him, I apologize Papyrus." Papyrus felt anxiety start to nip at him. This was unusual. "IT'S ALRIGHT GRILLBY, I'M SURE HE'LL TURN UP." Unusual be Sans has disappeared to somewhere else before. Maybe he finally caved and was going to his Allhalla? Surely Sans would've at least left a note though? "Maybe he was distracted though? Allhalla, from Sans memories, was pretty far away, so Papyrus would give it a few days. Maybe. Possibly. He didn't know. He didn't know if Sans was going to Allhalla thus he didn't know if Sans was safe or not- "I'm doing it again." Sans was strong, he fought in the war, he was fine. Papyrus would give Sans a few days before he took drastic measures. Papyrus nodded firmly as he solidified his point. It was weird not having Sans in the house though...
