Peyton pov:
"Holy fuck! You look like shit, what happened?" Matthew held my shoulders gently, looking over my bruised face.
"Ate shit on my board." I didn't want them to worry about me, they already do too much.
"Boards don't do that chica." Cam turned my face to her.
"It's fine." I swatted her hand away, moving myself out of both of their reaches.
Looking at Kenji I could see anger pooling in his gray eyes making me all the more nervous. Shutting my locker I packed my shit for 1st period. Kenji stood by my side giving looks to people who stared too long.
Taking my seat I sighed and relaxed, happy to be out of my house and with my friends. Kenji slid his sketchbook closer to me, looking at the pages I saw he wrote something inside.
'Your dad?'
Tapping my pencil on the paper I decided to be honest and not hide it from him. I love the others but they had a hair trigger reaction to anything involving me.
'Yeah.'
Sliding it back he grunted and faced me, lightly touching my cheek making me wince. Reaching into his bag he pulled out some ointment to numb my face so it wouldn't hurt as bad.
It wasn't too bad, my back and stomach got the worst. I had a black eye, scabbed split lip, and a heavily bruised cheek. My stomach was black and purple and my back had remains of lashes from his belt hitting my skin.
Class was boring which made it go by slowly, when it was over I quickly left and headed for my next class. Kenji followed and we found the others bickering about the best superhero, they always bickered.
Sitting with them we got to play some instruments for class making it go by quickly. What I did notice was a pair of blue eyes staring at me. Catching her made her flip me off and go back to weakly playing a ukulele.
The next classes were a blur making me thankful, my body and face really hurt. It wasn't until Improv that I was able to talk to her again. Sevin paired us up to make up scenarios and I was paired with her, only she talked rather than do the assignment.
"What with your face? It's uglier than usual." She kept her usual scowl.
"I always thought I was decent looking." I smiled and shrugged. Furrowing her brows she rolled her eyes at me.
"You gonna say what happened or keep blabbing about stupid shit?" She crossed her arms, irritated at me talking.
"Skateboarding accident." I lied, I don't need her knowing something this personal.
"Right." She scoffed. The bell rang and class was over. She quickly grabbed her stuff and shoved passed me, her scowl still present.
I shrugged it off and grabbed my stuff, heading for my last class of the day. I mainly watched the stage fighters teach and didn't really feel like participating.
By the last bell I was out the door and looking for Kenji, needing to go to his place rather than mine. Out in the parking lot I find him sitting on the hood of his car waiting patiently for me. I was a few feet away when something hit me in the back of my head, hard.
Turning around I found some jock type guys laughing at the football hitting me. Ignoring them I continue to Kenji when another hit me harder this time.
