Peyton pov:

I made sure to avoid Fallon till the play, most of my time was spent at Kenji's since my father still didn't want me home. If I wasn't at school or Kenji's I was at Matt with the others doing band rehearsals.

It being a week later and the night of the play I wasn't too excited about performing. My locker slams shut as Matt stood with a happy smile, he's like a giant dog.

"Yes?" Accepting defeat I waited for him to ask whatever he was gonna ask me.

"Are we allowed to come to the play or not?" I could see the hope in his eyes, saying no would only crush that.

"Yeah, not like it really matters." He sweeps me into a hug and shouts with joy, cheering me up a bit.

"Awesome. Let's go get hotdogs!" Pulling me with him we head for the outdoor food court.

Getting the food and paying we sat with our group and ate, well I did, Matt was bickering with Camilla about food combinations. Kenji eyed me so I waved him off, not feeling like talking about it still.

The devil must like to play games considering Fallon graced the food court with her presence. She had Derek's arm around her as him and some of his jock buddies walked in.

"She hasn't been hanging out with us recently. Did you guys get into a fight?" Matt shot me a squinted look, like I was on trial or something.

"Yeah but she does as she pleases regardless." I waved him off, finishing off my food quickly.

Changing a glance up I catch her eyes for a moment, recognition and shame inside the deep blue. Sighing to myself I get up and leave, not wishing to be around her at the moment.

Skipping my last classes I go up to the roof to chill out, wanting to be away from people in general. Pulling out a joint I lay back and enjoy the sky full of white clouds. Taking a hit I feel my phone buzz with an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Is this Peyton Ledger?" A male voice came through. Skeptical but curious I answer.

"Yeah?"

"Hey kid, I was waiting for your call from that show you threw but ya never gave one." My eyes bug out. I completely forgot about the manager guy.

"Oh shit! Sorry I got caught up with school and stuff." I took a hit to chill myself out, enjoying the high it gave.

"No worries. Why don't you stop by my office a week from now. We can talk shop. Bring your band mates too." Smiling, I agreed and scheduled it with him. Hanging up I let out a pleased hum and finished my joint.

When the last bell rang I got up and headed out, needing to be on time for the play. Going back inside and merging with the crowds of people I reach my locker and put my shit away. Closing it I found Ella standing behind me, she held her books and smiled at me.

"Hey Peyton." Her cheeks looked a little flushed when she spoke to me. It was pretty cute to be honest.

"Hey, I haven't seen much of you." I returned her smile, leaning my side against the lockers.

"Busy as always. I heard that you're in the play tonight." She bit her lip with a cheeky smile, eyeing me closely.

"Yeah, I'm one of the leads. It's for my class honestly." She chuckled and tucked some hair away. She seemed more nervous than usual.
