ROBIN AWOKE THE next morning by having the sun blaring in her eyes. she groaned, rolling over to check the time. the clock read 10:54am. she sighed, grabbing her phone from off the nightstand and read the notifications.

instagram: 32 notifications from luverrboy

seeing these notifications made her sit up in her bed, suddenly going from half-asleep to fully awake. she opened instagram first, scrolling up to see the messages in order.

she rolled her eyes at the messages, but part of her felt bad. a part of her believed aidan's messages. maybe she was being a bit too harsh. everyone makes mistakes, right?

she closed instagram and opened imessage next. she clicked on her and aidan's conversation, and clicked on his contact. her finger hovered over the "unblock caller" button for a few moments while she contemplated the decision she was about to make. she clicked the button, scrolled up, and clicked the "call" button.

it barely rang twice before aidan picked up. "robin?"

"i'm sorry. i didn't mean to ignore you. i fell asleep last night"

"it's fine. look- i'm sorry for all those messages. the mean ones, i mean. i got really drunk last night after our call and i didn't mean it"

"it's fine. look, the reason i freaked out on you the other night in the car is because....well... not too long ago, i got into a car wreck. and i've been dealing with a lot. i lost my memories with someone who's really attached to me, and it's been stressing me out a lot"

"holy shit robin i'm so sorry. i had no idea," silence filled the next few seconds of the call. "i didn't mean to bring back traumatic memories. and i didn't mean to be such an ass about it. i didn't even deserve your explanation"

"i forgive you," robin told him. "i don't know if you're interested, but i can tell you more if you want to hang out? i don't really have anyone to talk to"

"i'd love to. i can come to your place if you'd like?"

"yeah, that works," robin agreed, a smile on her face.

"see you soon," aidan said before ending the call.

robin flopped back onto her bed, looking at her ceiling. she wasn't sure if letting aidan back into her life was a good idea, but she figured she could try giving him a second chance.

she got up, changing into a casual but cute outfit, and brushed her hair. next she brushed her teeth, put on light makeup, and looked up in the mirror. her reflection was staring back at her, but for some reason, when she looked in the mirror, she didn't recognize herself anymore.

her eyes no longer had the shine of happiness they had before. even though she had concealer on under her eyes, her eye bags were still visible. she looked exhausted, despite the fact that she's been getting a good amount of sleep every night.

she shook off her feelings of unease and walked out of her bathroom. she let her feet carry her downstairs and into the living room, which is where she found nancy and steve.

"nance i'm telling you just give it time-" steve was saying, before nancy nudged him and glanced towards robin's direction. this was her way of saying 'end the conversation, robin's here'. "hey rob!"

robin glanced between him and nancy. "don't stop your conversation just because i walked in the room"

"oh, no worries, our conversation was over," nancy chimed in with a small smile

"i was talking to steve," robin told her flatly, causing nancy's smile to fade. "anyways, i'm having a friend over so don't be weird and don't interrupt us"

"got it," steve said, glancing over at nancy- who was now remaining silent.

robin passed by them and into the kitchen. she pulled the cabinet door open, grabbed a glass, and filled it with water. she barely got the glass to her lips before there was a knock on the door.

robin set her glass down and walked quickly to answer the door. she swung the front door open, revealing aidan on the other side. he had a smile on his face, which grew when he saw her.

"hey, rob," he greeted, stepping inside the house. his eyes scanned the place around him. "nice place"

"thanks. i share it with a few others who i'm hoping won't-"

"hey, i'm steve," a voice said from behind her, cutting her off.

"hey, aidan," he stuck his hand out for a handshake, glancing between robin and steve a few times, as if he was thinking they were a thing. "are you guys a couple or something?"

nancy rounded the corner as he asked his, before stopping abruptly when she saw the group.

"no, we're just friends"

"friends that live together? that's not weird at all..." he said sarcastically, a hint of jealousy in his voice.

"yeah, um...he's actually dating our other roommate, nancy," she lied, pointing at the brunette standing only a few feet away. "however, i'm not a big fan of her, so we can just go to my room"

nancy and steve stood there in shock as robin guided aidan to her room. then, the two of them disappeared behind robin's closed bedroom door. steve turned to nancy, giving her a look of disbelief.

"what the fuck just happened?" steve asked, more confused than he's ever been.

"i think we just met the guy robin's been sneaking around with"
