you're alive, you're alive, you're alive...

TO SAY NANCY was shocked was an understatement. she never expected robin to kiss her- especially not sober. despite being shocked, though, she still kissed back.

the kiss was passionate. to robin, it was exactly how steve explained it. it felt right. it felt completely different than any kiss she had with aidan.

when they both pulled away for air, they looked at each other in shock. neither of them could believe it actually had happened. robin couldn't believe she had actually just kissed nancy.

"did you just-"

"yeah," robin said in disbelief. "i meant to...i'm just shocked i actually did it"

"you meant to? did you plan this"

"kinda..." nancy looked at robin, knowing she was lying. "yeah, i did. last night when we were out here i realized i liked you. i tried to push it away cause after everything i did to you i knew i didn't deserve anything that might happen between us"

"don't deserve it? robin, it's not your fault and i'm not mad at you for anything "you did". you went through something really traumatic and i was trying to push a relationship onto you"

"you weren't trying to push it onto me"

"yes i was. i expected everything to go back to normal even after you lost your memory. i just didn't want to lose you because i really loved you"

"you loved me?"

"yeah. i used to tell you every day. well, more like every five minutes. but i still do. i always will. even if this," she gestured to both of them, "doesn't go anywhere"

"really?"

"yeah, really. you're my soulmate. well, to me at least. i don't have to be yours"

"honestly, i think you are," robin smiled. "i mean, if you think about it, i got into a car accident, completely lost all memory of you, and i still ended up coming back to you"

nancy smiled, tearing up. "yeah, you're right"

"and even though this isn't our first kiss since the accident- steve told me i kissed you while i was drunk- it was better. even though i meant it when i was drunk, you definitely know i mean it now"

"i don't know. i'm still not sure this isn't a prank," nancy joked, a few tears rolling down her face from happiness.

"i can assure you, it's not"

"can you assure me with another kiss?" she smiled innocently.

"if you insist," robin said, playfully rolling her eyes and leaning in again.

-

"i still can't believe you kissed me!" nancy exclaimed during their car ride home.

"you still can't believe it? we kissed multiple times!"

"i know! but i still can't believe it!"

"will you believe it more if i ask you to go on a date with me? tomorrow night?"

"wasn't this technically a date?"

"not a real one. but i mean if you don't-"

"no! i do. i really do"

"great, then it's settled then. a real date. tomorrow night"

"i will see you there. or, technically, at home. when i drive us," robin laughed, glancing over at nancy.

the car pulled up in the driveway, and robin put it in park. she kissed nancy once more before getting out of the car and heading inside with nancy. they were greeted by a very excited steve, who was sitting on the stairs when they opened the door.

"how'd it go?!" he asked anxiously.

"robin asked me on a date. and she kissed me," nancy beamed, smiling over at robin.

"multiple times," robin added, a smug smile on her face.

"and did it feel like how i said?"

"you asked him what a kiss feels like?" nancy laughed, looking up at robin.

"yeah," robin admitted, her face turning red from embarrassment. "in my defense, i was trying to make sure it was supposed to feel different from how my kisses with aidan felt!"

"you're cute," nancy smiled, giving robin a kiss on the cheek and heading to her room upstairs.

once the door closed, steve turned to robin. "give me the details!! right now!"

-

robin and steve sat in the kitchen for an hour talking about how robin's night with nancy went. steve was happy to listen, and he was especially happy to see how happy robin looked.

he hadn't seen her this happy since before her accident.

so, to see her smiling and blushing while talking about nancy was relieving for him. finally, robin could be happy with someone that treated her well and actually loved her.

"i feel really bad for everything i put nancy through. if i were her, i wouldn't go out with me"

"she loves you, rob. plus, i'm pretty sure she's been waiting for this moment since you got out of the hospital. she was so excited that first night she took care of you when she was drunk, because you were finally talking to her. and she was over the moon when you kissed her drunk the other night. i kept having to tell her to be quieter since you were trying to sleep"

"really?"

"really. she's head over heels for you. she always has been. before your accident, she was convinced you two were going to get married and start a little family together. you guys had talked about it too"

"well, maybe she can stay convinced that we'll do those things. i really like her"

"even i'm so happy to hear you say those words. you guys made me believe in love"

"really?"

"yes, really! you two never fought- never had a single argument. you were the sweetest couple"

"well, looks like things will be going back that way. but, as for now, it's really late, and i need my beauty sleep. i have a date tomorrow"

"yep, you do! night, rob. love you"

"love you too"

robin went back to her room and got unready. when she laid in bed, she smiled to herself. steve and nancy were right all along- nancy was who she belonged with. not aidan, not any other guy, not any other girl.

just nancy.
