Haylie pov

I sat down at the table with Stiles while Allison went towards the bookshelf to where I assume Scott was hiding so they could talk in private. “Allison sent me what Lydia could translate from the beastiary, and trust me, she’s very confused.” I said pulling out my tablet and giving it to him.

“What did you guys tell her?” He asked scrolling down.

“That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures.” I said with a laugh, Hoping Lydia didn’t believe I had anything to do with that kind of stuff. Stiles looked  up at me.

“I’m part of an online community that battles mythical creatures.” I held in my giggle and trying to look guilty.

“Oh, great.” I looked down and tried not to laugh, he also looked down to the tablet.

“Okay, does this say how to find out who’s controlling him?” I shook my head.

“No, not really,” I sighed, “But I think you’re right about the murderers.”

“Yes!” He said throwing a fist into the air causing people including Scott and Allison to turn around and look at us; they were both hiding behind a bookshelf talking. “What was I right about?” I glared at him.

“The script calls it a weapon of vengeance, There’s a story in there that talks about a south American priest, who uses the kanima to execute murderers in his village.” I said looking around making sure no one was listening.

“Okay, so maybe it’s not that bad?”

“Until the bond between them grew strong enough it killed whoever he wanted it too.” I said and he looked back down at the tablet with a sigh. “Here’s the thing though, The Kanima is actually supposed to be a werewolf but it can’t become one until it ‘resolves what's in its past that manifests it’?” I pointed to the bit in the text that I quoted that from.

“Okay, if that means Jackson could use a few thousand hours in therapy then I could have told you that myself.” He said sarcastically, I just rolled my eyes at him.  I looked away and looked towards Jackson standing at the bookshelf a few down from Scott and Allison.

“What if,” I started thinking of an idea, “What if has something to do with his parents?” I asked looking back to my brother. He looked confused. “His real parents.” He looked like he was thinking for a moment. “Does anyone actually know what happened to them?” He shook his head but then his eyes widened.

“Lydia might”

“In case she doesn’t I’ll talk to him. He doesn’t have a restraining order against me.” I smirked mocking him.

“Ha ha.” He said sarcastically, making me smirk more. “Do you think dad’s still mad about that?” He asked being serious, I shook my head.

“No, I wouldn’t say mad.  I mean, he has the right to be upset and a little pissed.” Stiles nodded agreeing, “a week ago not only did his only son get a restraining order from one of the towns most respected attorneys but his daughter knows she was adopted and is friends with Alleged killer Derek Hale.” I said and put on a shocked face which of course caused us both to laugh a little.

“Well he’s not an alleged killer anymore.” He said and I nodded knowing he had a point. “But ah,” He paused for a second, “Since when are you and Derek actually friends?” I looked away from him and took the tablet from him.

“We’re not, He just showed up at the hospital after I cut my hand and I had to think of something to tell dad, or he would think Derek was stalking me again.” I said putting the tablet back in my bag. Stiles scoffed.
