EDITED

When the little red head with thick glasses but a cute dress entered the café, a thick backpack on her shoulder Haylie smiled and stood up. "Jessica?" The girl nodded and approached.

"Haylie? It's so good to meet you." She said honestly as they shook hands. "I have to admit, I was still half expecting a murderous psycho."

Haylie laughed as the thick backpack fell to the floor with a thud and Jessica took her seat opposite her. "Hey, you can't assume I'm not." When Jessica's face dropped a little, she quickly tried to backtrack. "I was joking, I'm not a murderer." Jessica smiled again and nodded.

"me either."

"Good." Haylie laughed, trying to ease some awkwardness. "Can I get you a drink?"

"Just water is fine."

Haylie moved over to the counter, ordering herself a smoothie and a water for Jessica. When she came back and placed the drinks back on the table, Jessica was quick in her questions. "Can I see the birthmark?" When Haylie froze before her sip she clarified. "Just to make sure you really are who you say you are."

She could understand that so pulled the hair away from her ear to show the small mark that her dad always said looked a little bit like a duck leading it's young. She kind of wished it was more magical than that.

"Wow," Jessica breathed. "Okay so I guess you're real." She laughed. "Let's just be clear then, I'll tell you everything I know, but you have to promise no werewolf or hunter is going to come after me."

Haylie opened her mouth with a laugh but then slowly closed it again when she realised, she couldn't actually promise me that. Maybe Jessica had only said it as a joke because her eyes fell down to the gold band and smiled. "That's pretty."

"Oh, it was a gift." She lied and pulled it away from her neck before changing her mind. "Actually, the old guy from 'For the Riding' saw it and kind of freaked out."

"Archer?"

"I guess. He told me to bury it, that it was dangerous to wear it."

She nodded and took a gulp of her water as she examined it. "You know that promise you didn't make. This is serious shit isn't it?"

Haylie shrugged and took it off again. "That's what I need to find out. 'Archer' was the third person to find it interested. The other two sets of people were very different."

"Who?"

It could take a while to explain so Haylie decided to keep it basic. "Well, some hunters and a werewolf."

Jessica sat back in her seat with a face of surprise. "Okay, you know hunters and werewolves? How are you not A dead, or B a hunting looney?"

Haylie couldn't help her laugh at the seriousness. "It's a long story. Back to the necklace, you've never seen it before?"

Jessica held her hand out and Haylie didn't hesitate before placing the gold into it. Jessica read over the inscription but shook her head. "I can take a picture if you want? Stick it on the supernatural web? See what hits it gets?"

"No. From your friend's reaction earlier, I think it's best we keep it to people we trust."

There was a hint of smile when Jessica realised, she had obviously gained this younger girls trust. "Okay, well, if you want, I can show it some of my friends? The ones I trust?" Haylie smiled grateful as Jessica took her phone out and snapped a picture. "I also bought you these." She reached into her bag and pulled out a small notepad with a bunch of papers crumpled up inside. "These are all the anchors I could find. Obviously, their identity remains a secret the majority of the time but these ones have slipped through the secrecy."
