I closed her bedroom door as we walked in. Her phone buzzed in her hand. She sighed and I saw the distress on her face. I moved towards her. “It’s my dad. Matts dead, they found his body in the lake behind the station.” I couldn’t help but move the hair out of her face and she looked up to me.

“That’s a good thing Haylie. He would have killed you tonight.” I reassured her, she nodded and I saw her gulp when she looked down. She looked like she was thinking then her head came back up.

“If Matts dead, does, Does that mean this is over? No more killings, no more mysteries?” I saw the hope in her face as she looked into my eyes. I saw it start to fade as she realised I hadn’t answered.

“Yes. It’s over.” I wanted to hit myself. I just lied to her. But seeing her smile changed it. I would lie to her every day if it meant I could see that smile. “Except your dad did see...” I didn’t need to continue she nodded.

“I will pay for that. But right now I think I'm just gonna change.” She smiled again and moved away from me and too the closet. She pulled out some clothes and went into the bathroom to change. I don’t know why it’s not like I haven’t seen her naked a thousand times. My mind wondered as I lent against the desk, mainly to her being naked. “What are you smiling about?” Her voice sang to my ears and I looked up to realise she had gotten changed into, a cream coloured jumper, black wet look leggings and her hair was up in a bun.

“Just thinking.” I said with a smirk, she moved over to her closet again and pulled out a box. She put the dress she was wearing on her bed and pulled out the one I remember her wearing the night I became Alpha.

“Two perfectly good dresses ruined.” She sighed and I moved behind her looking into the box. “This is a perfect example of why bad things happen to good people.” She joked. She was about to put the dress back when I reached into the box and pulled out a green bracelet that I recognised too well. She didn’t even realise because she just put both dresses into the box.

“Why don’t you throw them away?” I asked examining the bracelet.

“I don’t know, I guess,” She thought from a moment while she put the lid back on the box. “I guess, because its memories. Sure horrible and traumatizing memories but still memories.” She turned around to face me. I held out the bracelet.

“Wear it. Please.” She looked at it for a moment then sighed.

“Doesn’t exactly go with this outfit.” She said but still held her wrist out for me to put it on her. I put it on then moved her sleeve so it covered it. She smiled at my small effort. “It’s just gone past six, I don’t know that anywheres gonna be open for coffee.” I moved away from her and she put on some ballet flats, and picked up her bag.

“There will be somewhere.” I reassured her as we went down stairs. I can’t remember the last time I actually used the front door to leave her house. She grabbed her keys and we left the house and walked to my car.
