EDITED

"What are you going to say to him?" Haylie asked slamming shut her car door as Scott stood at the hood of the car waiting for her.

"I don't know yet. Something that will make him think power isn't everything?" He suggested as they started making their way into the rink. Haylie reached behind her back and double checked the knife she placed tucked into her jeans wouldn't slip. If Scott saw her grab it, he said nothing. She took it from her dads closet a week ago. It was a hunting knife with a thick leather casing round the blade. Something about keeping it close made her feel her own kind of powerful.

"What is it?" she asked when Scott's footsteps got slower but instead of answering, they turning the corner and found Boyd on the ice. He sat on top of the large ice cleaner as it went round the rink.

"Boyd!" Scott called out and maybe he knew something that she didn't as their feet met the ice. "We just want to talk!" He yelled over the machine that Boyd still chose not to turn off. Haylie would have thought he hadn't heard them himself but Scott knew different. "Please! Did Derek tell you everything? And I don't just mean going out of control on the full moon. I mean everything."

Boyd finally stopped the machine and turned to face them. "He told me about the hunters." Now that it was out in the open, Haylie wondered if there was a reason that Scott already knew Derek got to Boyd. Maybe there was a change to his scent.

"And that's not enough for you to say no?" Boyd looked away making Haylie frown. She couldn't tell what had happened to him. If anything had. "Whatever you want, there's better ways to get it."

"I just want to not eat lunch alone everyday."

Haylie finally found her voice with a scoff. "If you want friends, you can do a lot better than Derek."

"That really hurt Haylie." Scott and Haylie spun round to find Derek on the ice. His top covered in his leather jacket, his face still holding so much more stubble than it used to. But behind him stood Erica and Isaac. They had definitely made themselves a part of his pack. Leather seemed to be non optional. "I mean, if you're going to review me, at least take a consensus." He motioned to the two betas behind him. "Erica, how's life been for you since we met?"

Erica pretended to think as she twirled the blonde hair between her fingers. "In a word? Transformative." She said before baring her fangs with a loud growl.

Derek smirked while he watched Haylie's jaw clench and her hand fall slightly behind her back. "Isaac?"

"Well, I'm a little bummed about being a fugitive but other than that, I'm great." He smiled but Haylie watched as his eyes ran down her body like a predator.

Scott moved forward, his hand discreetly falling on top of hers as she had gripped the handle of the blade ready to be unsheathed. "Hold on. This isn't exactly a fair fight." He stated as he pulled her hand away with a silent message to stand down. She didn't know it was because he thought she was stupid for even thinking she could use that knife against them. He hadn't seen her training with Dan, he didn't know she was eager to put that training into practice.

"Then go home Scott." Derek replied with a smirk that she hated. When Scott didn't respond, Derek turned his head and indicated something to the betas. Neither hesitated before making their way forward.

Haylie didn't even flinch this time when Scott's fist met the ice. "I meant, fair for them." Her eyes fell on Derek and instead of trying to fight she kept her hand away from the knife and ran forward just as Scott collided with Isaac.

"Derek stop." She breathed when she stopped in front of him but he kept his eyes trained straight on the fight. "Derek you don't need to do this." He still ignored her, even though he knew her hands were gripped at his open jacket, tugging, begging him to look at her. "Derek please!" She started shaking him next. "Tell them to stop for me please!"
