People all around the room had already introduced themselves, and it was almost Katagiri's turn. I had decided against waking him up because he had no obligation to tell others his name, even though he had told me and Horikita. He seemed content with just that.

Once the baton was passed to him, of course he didn't stand up.
"Hey what's this guy sleeping for!?"
A red hair guy, who had introduced himself as Sudo, seemed to get mad. I decided to quickly stand up to defuse the situation.
It was awkward, because I almost looked eager to go with how fast I stood up.

"Um...my name is Kiyotaka Ayanokōji and, um...I look forward to a good year."
I quickly sat back down. I blew it, and I wondered how long this would sting.
Only one person gave my lame introduction a clap. It was Yōsuke Hirata. I thought I heard a chuckle next to me, but maybe I was imagining things.

Next to me, Horikita was reading a book. From her appearance, people assumed it would be best not to provoke her.
The teacher walked into the classroom, and everyone continued talking. She shot Katagiri a look, before talking to the class.
"Okay everyone, quiet down."
Students stopped talking as she wrote her name on the board.
"Chabashira, huh" I muttered to myself.

She turned around and put some papers on the podium. "I am now going to tell you how this school works. Being a school established by the government, we run differently than other schools."
I had thought that much. Apparently graduating from this school guaranteed you a good job.
"If you would please take a look at phones, and open the schools app."
I did what I was told, and when I opened the app, the number 100,000 showed on my screen.
"The number you see on your screen are points, and you use these points to buy anything. This is the schools currency. You should be able to get more points every month."

"Wait what!? Does that mean I have 100,000 yen!?"

People in the classroom began to rightfully freak out. But it seemed like nothing was going to wake Katagiri up.
"On the app, you will also see your class points. As you gain class points, you will move up classes. Pushing the other classes to the bottom, but they can push you back down."

So this is how the school would work. "A map of the school has been put on your phone. Please find your room number on there as well. Class is dismissed for today. You are free to head back to your dorms."

Horikita stood up and immediately left the classroom, bumping into Sudo as she left. I decided to wake up the person next to me.
I slightly nudged him on the shoulder, and he looked up at me. I could tell he had actually fallen asleep.
I took a quick look at my phone.
"Let's go to the mall."
"M-mall?"
An expected reaction.

We both grabbed our stuff and left the classroom, with me leading the way to the mall I had seen on the map.
———-
When we arrived at the mall, Katagiri looked blown away. "Something wrong?"
"No, it's just....I've never been somewhere like this before."
It appeared we would both be experiencing this for the first time.
We stopped at an already crowded Cafe, and decided to go in.
"Oh sorry, I don't actually have any money."
"It's fine, just go find somewhere to sit. I'll explain the things you slept through."

"R-right."
He looked guilty as he walked away, even though I doubt he actually felt anything of the sort. I made a guess on what I might like, and ordered the same thing for Katagiri. I paid with my phone, and found him sitting in the corner.
"Here, I've never had coffee so I'm not sure what I like, and you didn't tell me what you liked."
"It's fine, this is a first for me aswell."

We both took a sip. Katagiri sputtered a bit. I had to agree. Maybe I ordered something a little too sweet.
He took another sip.
"It doesn't taste very good, but I can't really stop drinking it."
I decided to sit mine in the table, wondering if I would actually finish it.
"I'll explain things now."
————-
After I had explained everything, Katagiri looked unsurprised.
"I had guessed that much. And I had already seen that no real money was required."

That remark made me wonder. "It if it was required, would that be a problem for you?"
He looked at me for a few seconds.
"Maybe..." he said as his gaze shifted over to the counter.

"Well if there's no room, don't you think you could make some room."
Two students stood in front of the counter. One had longer hair, and the other frankly looked strong.
"I'm sorry, but there really is no more room."
"And I'm telling you to make some!"

The strong one began yelling, catching everyone's eyes.
"It's fine we can find somewhere else to go."
"But..."
The long haired one stopped him from yelling, and they both left the shop. Everyone watched them leave.

"I don't like people like that", said Katagiri.
"People like that?"
"People with an attitude like his. One thing I can tell, is that he will be an enemy."

I didn't know which one he was talking about, but I decided to drop it.

Katagiri looked around.
There were groups of girls and boys talking. Showing each other there phones, or playing games together.
"I wonder if we look like friends, Ayanokōji."
We definitely did look like that. Considering the people around us.
"Maybe."

Friends, huh.
