(Yuuichi POV)

After having tea, Kotonoha ended up sleeping on my couch. I left to go to the bathroom for 2 minutes and came back to her snoring.

I didn't even get a chance to tell her to leave.

"Kotonoha."

Early the next morning, I tried to nudge her awake.

"Todays a school day."

She wouldn't budge though, so I debated the hot water prank or some type of marker mustache, but I decided that the best prank I could pull now would be to just leave her.

I didn't expect the trouble that would cause just minutes later though.

After opening my room door, I found Horikita leaning on the railing in front of me.

"What are you doing here?"

A mental alarm went off in my head, but I shut my door normally to not arouse her attention.

"I came to pick you up. I had a talk with Shiho, and I have important info."

I doubt it's anything I don't know, but it would be better to get her out of here sooner.

"Sure, let's walk together."

"I'd rather not, can't we just speak here?"

She doesn't follow my foot steps, and stands still on the railing.

The only other way I could think of was to take her forcefully.

I take a few steps forward, and grab her right hand, and pull it towards me.

"Come on, I process information better when moving."

She pulls back.

"I don't want to be seen holding hands with you on the way to school."

"Well neither do I, but what choice do I have left?"

At that, she falls silent, and pulls her hand out forcefully. I only spoke what I honestly thought, like she did, but it seemed to make her mad.

I don't have time for this person anymore. This altercation no longer feels worth it either.

Just as I'm about to take off though, Kotonoha opens my door, cloths maladjusted, and yawning as she covers her mouth.

"Hm, what's going on here?"

She looks to me, then Horikita, then down at herself.

"Ah, sorry. I lost something here last night, so I'll go get it."

D**n her.

After Kotonoha closes the door, Horikita looks to me.

"I wonder what she could have lost here last night, Katagiri."

"Horikita, what's that in your pocket."

"A compass."

"A compass, huh."

On the fear of my other hand, I walked with Horikita and Kotonoha this morning.

I wasn't sure why, but I could feel tension between them.

A/N: This SS ends off the first volume of the book!
It also coincides with the last chapter when Ayanokoji said he saw the three of them waking together.

The next chapter is a soliloquy, the most important yet because it is finally time for Ayanokoji's soliloquy.
Not all of it, but it will add some more lore to Ayanokoji's past with Yuuichi, as well as some context with the random remarks he made in the early chapters of the book.

Also, I am sorry if the characters sound OOC here, but since this was a short story that will not really be brought up again, I was having fun with it.
