Fated to Meet(COTE X Tomodachi Game)

Arc 1 SS: Spicy Honey

(Ayanokoji POV, back in time a little bit)

On the first day we got on this ship, I had a rather chance meeting with someone I had never seen before.

I had decided to get something to eat from the Cafe, so I could be alone for a while.
I ordered one plain bagel, and sat down at a table for two, alone to eat it.

I took out my phone, and begin to fiddle with it a bit.
The waves were a calming noise, and the sun provided some warmth.
I was glad that I'm not the type of person to get seasick.

The calmness did not last very long though.
I felt someone staring into my back, watching me from behind.
I hadn't turned around yet, but I decided to ignore it.

In a swift movement, someone pulled the chair out from across my table.
She was quicker than I expected, but I did guess she was eventually going to sit down, based on her foot steps walking up to me.

Pretending to be surprised, I looked to her.
She had black hair with pigtails, and her skirt was longer than most of the other girls.
Most of the other girls seem to have chosen skirts that hardly covered their thighs, but hers went to her knees.

She put her arms on the table, and put them on her chin, to look strait at me.
She was smiling, but it wasn't your typical girly smile, it kind of looked like...

Putting that aside, I was about to speak up, but I noticed a certain aura about her.
She certainly didn't seem normal.
But, she had sat right at my table.
"Do you need something from me?"

She spent a good ten more seconds just staring at me.
People were starting to look at us strange.
I was about to ask again, but she finally spoke up.
"Isn't that bagel a little plain?"

She pointed to my food.
"I guess. I like it like this. I'm not a big fan of too much flavor."

"Hmmm...."

She reached over and grabbed it out of my hand.
I decided to let her, to see where this went.
"You know, I have something for you~"

"Something for me?"

She put my food on the table, and reached in her bag.
"Catch."

She quickly took her hand out of her bag, and threw something towards me.
People were looking at us like we were a circus.
I ignored it.

She tossed me a bottle.
It felt kind of heavy, so I read the label.
"Chili pepper infused...honey?"

It wasn't exactly what I was expecting.
"Put it on your bagel."

She pushed my food back over to me.
I wasn't exactly sure I wanted to eat it anymore, but she seemed to have something on her mind, so I did what she said.

I put a little of the honey on one side of the bagel.
I quickly took a bite.
This was getting strange, and I just wanted to leave.
I took a bite, as she stared at my mouth.

It tasted like...normal honey at first, but after I swallowed, spice engulfed my mouth.
It wasn't too bad, but not exactly a great flavor.
I wouldn't be eating it again.
"So?"

"Not bad. Why did you give this to me?"

She shrugged.
"Just thought you could use a bit of flavor~"

I capped the bottle, and tried to hand it back to her.
"No, you keep it. Goodbye, Kiyotaka."

After using my first name randomly, she left.

I could tell, the honey wasn't poisoned, but even if it was, I ate such a little amount, the poison wouldn't amount to much.

I had to wonder what she had in mind.
I threw the rest of the bagel away, and took the honey back to the room.

It wouldn't be until the second day of the exam, that I found out this girl, was Katagiri Kotonoha.

It seemed the second part of this exam...may have some hurdles.
Not exactly hurdles I couldn't jump over though.
