Chapter 12 The Great Escape

The night air inside the detention hall buzzed with anticipation. Makeshift lights illuminated the giant stage, a towering prop set up at the center, as the inmates crowded around in restless excitement.

Sawatari adjusted his Duel Disk with a wide grin. "Finally... my disk is back in my hands." His confidence radiated, as if the tool itself restored his pride.

Above, balanced dramatically atop the massive stage prop, Choujiro spread his arms like a performer at the peak of his act. His booming voice carried across the hall:

"Dueling is life! You only live once! If there are days you win, then there will be days you lose! Do not be ashamed of defeat, and do not be blinded by victory! Whatever the result—let's ENJOY!"

"Enjoy!" The crowd of inmates echoed as one, voices shaking the walls with their cheer. Many of them had tears in their eyes, grateful to see the old "Enjoy Choujiro" revived once again.

Choujiro smirked, his gaze sweeping the stage. "A certain youngster lit a fire in me tonight. Am I right, Sakaki Yuya?"

Yuya stepped forward confidently, the familiar smile of his dueling spirit on his face. Beside him walked Yuni, her Duel Disk already glowing, the two of them side by side beneath the hall's lights.

"You're right, Choujiro," Yuya said. "And since there are four of us here—why not make this a Battle Royal?"

Yuni raised her hand, her eyes gleaming. "And to push it even further... let's turn this into the ultimate evolution of dueling: an Action Duel!"

Murmurs ran through the crowd. The inmates exchanged glances, confusion etched across their faces.

"What's that supposed to mean?" one asked aloud.

Sawatari puffed out his chest and explained with a dramatic sweep of his arm. "An Action Duel unfolds on a special Action Field. Action Cards are scattered across the terrain—tools you can grab with your own hands in the middle of battle!"

The crowd erupted again, intrigue replacing confusion.

Choujiro grinned, clearly delighted. "Hah! Now that sounds interesting!"

"Then it's decided," Yuya declared, his voice cutting through the noise. "Action Field—ON! Field Magic: Crossover!"

The hall shimmered with light. In an instant, countless floating blue platforms spread through the dining hall, climbing high into the air, while a massive stage prop loomed over them like an arena centerpiece. Gasps rose from the prisoners as the surreal landscape took form.

"Now then..." Sawatari shouted, holding up his Disk. "Let's kick this off properly! Duelists locked in battle—"

Yuya continued with his familiar call, "Kicking the earth and dancing in the air alongside our monsters—"

Yuni followed, her voice ringing with conviction, "We storm through this field together—"

All three finished together as the crowd's anticipation reached its peak.

"Behold—the newest and greatest evolution of dueling! ACTION DUEL!" (Sawatari:4000)(Yuya:4000)(Yuni:4000)(Choujiro:4000)

The Action Cards scattered across the glowing field like falling stars, and Sawatari raised his Duel Disk triumphantly. "My turn! And first, I'll show you the true essence of Action Cards!"

Choujiro blinked, arms folded. "What's that all of a sudden?"

With a dramatic leap, Sawatari landed near one of the glowing platforms and plucked up a card. "Even before drawing, even before battling, these treasures are already in play! Action Magic—Illumination! Dazzle the stage in a burst of vibrant colors!"
