Katrina leaned forward on her D-Wheel, her eyes glinting beneath the visor. "This will show you not to mess with vampires. Battle! Vampire King—Feast of the Kings!"
The hulking shadow of her monster lunged forward, fangs gleaming as it tore into the opponent's D-Wheel. A sharp hiss echoed as the fangs struck, sparks and white smoke bursting from the machine. The defeated rider lost control, spinning out before coming to a halt. Gasps rippled through the stadium, the crowd recoiling at the terrifying spectacle.
Melissa's voice rang over the announcer system, slightly shaken but still professional. "The winner of the match is Sakaki Katrina! With her relentless vampire deck, she advances easily to the next round!"
The audience erupted into mixed cheers and uneasy murmurs. Katrina pulled off her helmet in one smooth motion, her dark hair spilling out as she raised a hand toward the crowd. The confident wave contrasted with the sinister aura her victory had left behind. Without another word, she turned and strode off the track, every step deliberate, almost regal.
High in the stands, Yuya's body sat slouched, but it wasn't Yuya's bright eyes looking out. Zarc's sharp, calculating gaze followed Katrina's exit as he sat beside Reisho, Yuzu, and Yuni.
"She won," Yuzu said quietly, still tense from the battle's intensity.
"Yeah," Reisho agreed with a thoughtful nod. "She's really good. Dangerous, even."
Yuni tilted her head, glancing at the scoreboard. "So who in the Lancers hasn't fought yet?"
Reisho exhaled, listing them off. "Jean, Dennis, and Shun. And don't forget—your Synchro counterpart hasn't gone up yet either."
Zarc—still masking himself behind Yuya's voice—leaned back, his expression hard. "So that means at least one of our Lancers is headed to the underground..." His words trailed into a heavy sigh, the weight of inevitability hanging over the group like a storm cloud.
Melissa's voice boomed across the stadium. "Now for the next match! We have Risu versus Jean!"
The announcement drew a stir from the audience.
"What? Jean is dueling Risu?" Ryu blurted out, startled.
On the big screen, Risu's face appeared, her features strikingly familiar. Dennis leaned forward, muttering under his breath. "Her opponent... she looks just like Sona."
Kurosaki Shun stiffened as the camera lingered on Risu. His eyes widened, then narrowed with unease. "That's the second one... the second girl who looks like my sister..."
The two duelists arrived at the starting line, engines rumbling beneath them. Jean, her expression calm but curious, studied the girl across from her. "So, you're Risu. You really do resemble my friends—Rumi and Yuni."
Risu nodded, her voice carrying determination. "I know. She told me I'm the only one who hasn't fused with her yet." Her grip on the handles tightened as she faced Jean. "So let's give this everything we've got."
Jean smirked faintly, her eyes glinting. "You bet."
Melissa raised her hand high. "Now let's get this duel started! Action Field—Crossover Accel!"
The arena shimmered, morphing into the glowing, high-speed pathways of the Crossover Accel field. Roads twisted into loops and ramps, bathed in neon light, as the duelists accelerated forward. The roar of their D-Wheels mingled with the cheers of the crowd. Their voices rang out as one: "Duel!" (Jean:4000) (Risu:4000)
Risu leaned into the curve of the Action Field, her D-Wheel tilting gracefully as she surged ahead. The momentum carried her into position for the first move.
