"All right, everyone!" Melissa's voice boomed through the stadium speakers. "It's time to introduce the players for the next match! First up—this man! Tokumatsu Choujiro!"
The crowd turned as an older duelist roared into the arena on his D-Wheel, pulling into the starting lane with a determined look.
"Dueling while riding one of these things..." Choujiro muttered, eyeing the sleek machine beneath him. "Times really have changed."
Melissa leaned forward, microphone in hand. "Does this jog your memory, folks? After ten long years, he's back on the scene! The one and only—Enjoy Choujiro himself!"
The audience erupted into cheers as Choujiro gave a wide, confident grin.
In Yuni's room, Yuya and Katrina watched from the screen. Yuya sat up straighter. "So it's Tokumatsu-san next, huh..."
Choujiro raised a hand to the crowd, his voice booming. "It's been far too long, ladies and gentlemen! But today—Enjoy Choujiro has returned!"
He tightened his grip on the throttle, his thoughts quieting for a moment. Thanks to you, Yuya... and Yuni. You reminded me of what it means to enjoy dueling. And thanks to the inmates who covered for me, I escaped the detention facility. I owe them this. I'll definitely win!
Melissa's voice rang out again. "And his opponent—our tournament's fourth female duelist—Hiiragi Yuzu!"
"What?!" Yuya, Yuni, and Katrina exclaimed in unison as Yuzu's name appeared.
"She's going before me?!" Yugo gasped in disbelief.
From the stands, Risu leapt to her feet. "Go for it, Yuzu! Rin's cheering for you, too!"
Dennis gave a playful whistle. "Yuzu-chan~"
Shingo stomped his foot in frustration. "Still not me?!"
Yuzu's D-Wheel entered the arena, her pink hair ribbon fluttering behind her as she smiled warmly.
"Wow..." Rin whispered, eyes wide. "I can't believe I get to see this—I'm really in the Friendship Cup!"
Yuzu chuckled. "You're excited, aren't you?"
"Of course! It's been my dream to see this day." Rin clenched her fists. "So please, win this for us, Yuzu!"
"I will," Yuzu promised, her smile firm with determination.
The two duelists lined up at their marks, engines revving.
Choujiro glanced at her with a bittersweet look. "No matter how I see it, there's no way I can let myself lose here... But sending such a sweet young lady underground..." He trailed off, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry, young lady!" he called out earnestly.
Yuzu blinked, confused. What on earth is he apologizing for?
Melissa raised her arm high. "Now then—Action Field, on! Field Magic: Crossover Accel!"
The field transformed, glowing tracks stretching across the stadium as Action Cards scattered into the air.
"Duel mode: autopilot, stand by," both duelists' D-Wheels announced as their disks activated.
The countdown echoed through the stadium.
"Riding Duel—Acceleration!" Melissa cried as the two shot forward on their D-Wheels, the crowd roaring with excitement.
"Duel!" Choujiro and Yuzu shouted together. (Choujiro:4000) (Yuzu: 4000)
Choujiro revved his D-Wheel, his voice booming. "I'll be taking the first turn. Forgive me, young lady... I summon Cardian – Pine! (ATK:100/DEF:100/Level 1)"
