The mark burned ominously in the sky, sending the entire city into panic. Gasps and shouts echoed through the stadium until a worker rushed up to Melissa and whispered urgently in her ear. She nodded briskly, then raised her voice with practiced calm.
"Everyone, don't panic! That was only a hologram. It will vanish in due time. For now—let's keep the excitement alive! The next Friendship Cup match will be Yugo versus Sawatari Shingo!"
Inside the waiting rooms, Vivian frowned. "They're really continuing the match? Seriously?"
Ryu crossed his arms, gaze dark. "Things are getting a bit terrible indeed..."
Yuzu, hands clasped tightly together, whispered under her breath, "Yuya... please be safe..."
Meanwhile, Sawatari's door opened. He puffed his chest with mock indignation. "Why is it Shingo again? It's about time I, Sawatari Shingo, got my turn—" He blinked. "Eh? Shingo... that's me!"
Down in the garage, Yugo adjusted his helmet with a fiery grin. "Alright! The moment I've been waiting for is finally here." His eyes flicked upward as though looking beyond the ceiling itself. "Watch this, Rin, Risu. I'll win for sure and keep our promise."
Swinging onto his D-Wheel, he muttered to himself, "Oh yeah. I should also talk about the interdimensional war in Yuzu's place..."
Melissa's voice boomed once again. "Sorry for the long wait, everyone! Our duelists are making their entrance!"
Yugo was the first to roar onto the track, his engine howling. Sawatari followed soon after, striking a dramatic pose. "The wait is over! The star of the Friendship Cup, Sawatari Shingo, makes his debut!"
The crowd wasn't impressed.
"Who do you think you are?"
"Some star you are!"
"I don't even know you!"
"Our eyes just met!"
Yuzu's gaze locked on the boy on the field. She whispered softly, "Yugo..."
Sawatari spread his arms wide, ignoring the jeers. "An excited, lively audience! Exactly the stage I was born for! And I won't settle for anything less than a dazzling duel."
Yugo smirked. "Right back at you."
Sawatari narrowed his eyes. "Let's see if you're more than just talk."
Melissa's cheerful commentary cut across the tension. "Sparks are flying between our contestants even before the duel begins! Let's set the stage! Action Field, on! Field Magic—Crossover Accel!"
The arena shimmered and transformed, a glowing course unfurling beneath the duelists' wheels. Engines roared as both Yugo and Sawatari accelerated, shouting in unison— "Duel!" (Yugo:4000)(Sawatari:4000)
"I'm taking the first move!" Yugo shouted as he accelerated, but Sawatari leaned forward, revving harder—his machine surged ahead.
Melissa announced, "Taking the first corner and the first turn is Sawatari Shingo!"
"That was close." Sawatari panted, catching his breath.
"You're not bad," Yugo remarked.
"Not bad?" Sawatari smirked. "How'd you like my Riding technique? But that was just the warm-up! Now for my entertainment theatre! I set the Scale 3 Abyss Actor – Extra (ATK:100/DEF:100/Level 1/Scale:3) and Scale 8 Abyss Actor – Funky Comedian (ATK:300/DEF:200/Level 1/Scale:8)!"
Twin monsters rose on shimmering pillars of light, glowing with 3 and 8 beneath them.
"With this, I can summon monsters from Level 4 to 7! Pendulum Summon! Take the stage, Abyss Actor – Big Star! (ATK:2500/DEF:1800/Level 7/Scale:6) and Abyss Actor – Sassy Rookie! (ATK:1700/DEF:1000/Level 4/Scale:2)!"
