The crowd inside the Duel Stadium roared with energy as Melissa Claire stood at the center, her voice echoing through the arena's speakers. "Now, ladies and gentlemen! After that incredible match between Yuya and Risu, excitement is at its peak for the final showdown of the semi-finals! Now, for our last duel, we have—"
A thunderous tremor ripped through the floor. The massive monitors flickered, and from the blinding light above, metal shadows descended—towering Antique Gear Chaos Giants crashing into view, their gears grinding with mechanical fury. Gasps spread like wildfire across the stands.
"H-Huh?! Those monsters... isn't that the one Dennis used before?!" Melissa's voice cracked as she stumbled backward.
The nearest giant turned its cannon-lined torso toward the crowd. A red glow pulsed from its core, then erupted—BOOM!—a scorching beam ripped through the stadium, shattering the Duel Field and collapsing the upper decks. Screams filled the air as explosions echoed one after another, the other giants following suit and firing indiscriminately.
"The stadium—it's being destroyed!" Melissa shouted, diving for cover as debris rained down. "What is going on?! The city's under attack by those giants!"
Panic spread through the audience. Commons and Tops alike bolted for the exits, their earlier cheers replaced by chaos. Outside, smoke already blackened the skyline, and a squad of Academia students in blue uniforms stood waiting—calm, merciless.
"Who are you people?!" a Common demanded, trembling as he shielded his family.
One student raised his Duel Disk. A blinding flash flared—then silence. The man's body froze, shimmered, and collapsed into a single card that hit the ground with a dull clatter.
The crowd froze. Someone screamed. "You'll share the same fate," another invader said coldly, eyes glinting beneath his visor as beams of sealing light shot through the fleeing masses.
Meanwhile, Yugo staggered into view from a nearby alley, his head throbbing. "What was I...? It felt like I was Dueling... Was that a dream?" He blinked, trying to shake off the haze—then the world around him exploded.
Columns of fire and twisted steel tore through the district. Over the roar came the grinding march of gears. The same metal titans he'd seen once in Heartland now stormed through the streets, erasing everything in their path.
Yugo's eyes widened in fury. "No way... they're here too?!"
He swung a leg over his Duel Runner, the engine shrieking to life. "If you think I'm letting you wreck this place, think again!" He tore off into the smoke, blue lightning trailing behind.
At the Capitol Building, a black van screeched to a stop. Sergey Volkov stepped out silently, his expression empty, his Duel Runner already idling beside him. Over the radio, Roget's voice came through: "Do not leave your post. Maintain your line of defense and leave interception of the enemy to Sergey."
Without a word, Sergey revved the engine, eyes narrowing with mechanical focus.
Inside the council chamber, the screens showed the devastation spreading across the city—streets collapsing, citizens fleeing, Academia forces advancing without mercy. Reiji Akaba stood among the council members, arms crossed, the glow of the monitors reflecting off his glasses.
"So those are the Academia forces you mentioned? From the Fusion Dimension?" White Taki asked, disbelief trembling in her tone.
Reiji nodded once. "Yes. The invasion has begun."
