The bell finally rang for everyone to go home for the day. Hyunjin was at his locker gathering his things, and Yeji was right next to him doing the same thing.
"Are you guys having practice today?" she asked.
"Yup," Hyunjin answered.
"Is that new kid joining?"
"Supposedly."
"You don't sound thrilled," Yeji chuckled.
Hyunjin shrugged and closed his locker, responding, "I don't know. I didn't get much sleep last night."
Yeji raised a brow, smirking, "Had the new kid on your mind?"
Hyunjin narrowed his eyes at her, asking, "What are you getting at?"
Yeji continued to smirk, saying, "You're not denying it."
Hyunjin rolled his eyes, sighing, "Whatever. Catch ya later."
And with that, he swung his backpack over his shoulder and made his way to the practice room.
When he arrived, almost everyone was there except for Seungmin and Jeongin. Not being phased by this normal occurrence, he strolled over to Changbin and sat next to him on the bench.
He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned his head back on the wall, closing his eyes in the process. Changbin noticed this and snaked an arm around the younger's shoulders, pulling him down so Hyunjin could lay his head on the older's shoulder. Hyunjin accepted this and shifted into a more comfortable position whilst resting his head on Changbin.
Unbeknownst to the two, Felix had been watching Hyunjin since he walked into the room. He was mesmerized by the older, finding Hyunjin to be one of the most attractive people he has ever seen. Although the older was quiet, Felix was excited to talk to and get to know him more.
The door clicked open again and revealed Seungmin and Jeongin, the younger one happily sipping on a juice box.
Jisung, who was laying on the floor with his head in Minho's lap, said, "Innie, you make me jealous. I wish someone would buy me treats every day."
Minho looked away from his phone and down at Jisung, obviously offended.
Seungmin dropped his backpack on the ground, saying, "It's not like I want to do it every day. He just won't shut up if I don't."
"You know you love me, hyung," Jeongin teased. Seungmin just rolled his eyes and ruffled the younger's hair.
"Well," Chan stood and clapped his hands to grab everyone's attention, "since we're all here, how about we try and show Felix what we do, and then he can show us some of his moves! Shall we show last season's performance?"
The other boys agreed and got into their positions. Chan pulled up the track on his phone and told Felix to press play when they were ready. He then jogged over to the boys and fit himself into the empty spot in the middle.
Felix waited a few seconds before playing the song. The music rang loudly through the speakers, and the seven boys began moving with its beat.
Felix was in awe. The seven boys seemed to move together as one person, with smooth yet sharp movements to capture your attention.
The one that kept catching Felix's attention the most, however, was Hyunjin. Although the older never looked over at him, Felix noticed that the older seemed like he was a part of the music. He moved in such a way that made it seem like the music was taking control of his body, and his facial expressions were just the cherry on top.
Felix could feel the butterflies fluttering in his stomach, and he gulped.
When the boys finished dancing, Felix clapped his hands with a wide smile on his face. Some of the boys bowed dramatically, and Hyunjin ran his hand through his hair. Felix saw this, and the butterflies became a little more aggressive.
Chan approached Felix, saying, "That was our performance at the last home game last year. And now that we've shown you our moves...how about you show us some of yours?"
Felix knew he would have to dance in front of them eventually, but it doesn't deny the fact that he was in no way prepared.
He got to his feet and rubbed the back of his neck, stuttering, "Ah, I-I'm not gonna be anywhere near as good as you guys."
"Oh come on, Felix! Chan told us that you're good," Jisung encouraged.
"Yeah, and don't be embarrassed. We all have to start somewhere," Changbin reassured.
The boys were all smiling at Felix, excited to see what he had up his sleeve. Even Hyunjin's lips were curved slightly upwards.
Felix took a deep breath and nodded, "Okay," which caused a rupture of cheers and claps.
The boys quickly got comfortable on the floor while Felix told Chan what song to play. Hyunjin was sat between Jeongin and Jisung, and he watched Felix prepare himself with tired eyes.
However, when Chan began the music and Felix started to dance, Hyunjin's eyes widened. This kid was good, like, really good! Hyunjin couldn't hardly believe how sharp Felix's movements were and how smoothly they flowed together.
He then felt that pressure on his chest again, but more aggressively than the other times before. He flinched but tried to play it off as him shifting his position on the floor.
Hyunjin began to worry. He had never felt this feeling before. It was nothing like the way he felt around Jisung when they first met, but that scared Hyunjin even more. Mostly because, he had no idea what this feeling could be. The closest thing he could think of was...
The song ended and Felix hit his final move, and after a second of silence, the other boys leaped from the floor and cheered for Felix. Hyunjin quickly followed them and clapped as to not look awkward.
Felix smiled sheepishly at the boys, rubbing the back of his neck. They jumped over to him and voiced positive comments and reassuring words to Felix.
Hyunjin stayed back a bit, realizing the feeling he was experiencing jealousy.
