17 - Sleepover

"Hyunnie?" 

Hyunjin turned to his mother. He had just come out of his room to take a break from homework and look through the kitchen for a snack. 

"I have to help your Aunt Minji move this weekend, so you'll need to stay with a friend Friday and Saturday night. I'll be back by Sunday afternoon," his mother explained. 

Hyunjin nodded, asking, "So the divorce went well, then?"

His mother nodded back and sighed, "Yes, thank goodness. That man was horrible to her. I don't know what it is about my family and not being able to find good people to marry."

At this point, Hyunjin had found a banana to munch on, and silently nodded along to the words he's already heard a million times before. 

"Hyunnie, I know you aren't into that stuff, but if you ever do end up wanting a romantic partner, make sure you know who they are before spending the rest of your life with them, okay?" his mother added, not wanting the family curse to pass onto her son. 

"Yes, mom," Hyunjin answered, internally cringing at the fact that he hasn't told his mother about him and Felix, nor his new sexuality. 

With the banana in hand, Hyunjin returned to his room. He sat at his desk and opened his phone, about to text Jeongin when he paused. 

What if I asked Felix instead?

Me: Hey Lix, I have a question

Lixie😊💛: Shoot!

Me: My mom will be out of town this weekend, so I need to stay with someone for a couple nights. I was kind of wondering if maybe I could...stay with you?

Lixie😊💛: Of course you can! My parents would love to meet you!

Me: Awesome! 

Me: Do they...know about us?

Lixie😊💛: They do, and they're totally chill about it! They won't mind if you stay over. 

Me: :))

Friday evening came, and before Hyunjin's mom drove to her sister's, she dropped Hyunjin off at Felix's house. 

Felix greeted the older at the front door with a wide grin. It brought a smile to Hyunjin's face, as it always did. 

Felix let the older in and led him through the house. When they entered the living area, they saw Felix's two sisters sitting on the couch together. The girls lifted their heads when they heard footsteps enter the room and smiled when they saw their brother with his crush. 

"Wow Felix, he's really handsome," Olivia complimented. 

Rachel lightly smacked her younger sister's knee, then turned back to Felix to say, "Mom and dad are in the kitchen."

Felix nodded and then led Hyunjin to the kitchen. Indeed, Felix's parents were there. His mother was fixing dinner while his father was reading an email on his laptop at the dining table. 

Felix's mother was the first to notice the two boys, greeting them with a smile and wiping her hands off with a towel. 

"Dear, Hyunjin is here!" she called to her husband, who turned around and smiled once he saw the boys. 

Felix's father got up and approached them, looking down at Hyunjin as he greeted, "It's good to finally meet you, Hyunjin."

"Yes, Felix has told us a lot about you," Felix's mother added, coming around the counter to stand by her husband.
