The following morning, Chris's alarm sounds the room at 8am, waking us both up. I groan softly, burying my face into the pillow. Chris also groans, arms wrapped loosely around me as he spoons me.
"Mmm, sorry, babe." He mumbles, laying a gentle kiss on my shoulder and then nuzzling my neck, tightening his grip around me. I can't help but smile, feeling an overwhelming sense of security and comfort.
"I'll forgive you this time." I answer teasingly, making him chuckle softly and kiss just below my earlobe, sending shivers down my spine.
"How very gracious of you." He answers, before slipping out of the bed, an eager Dodger following. I watch as he slips on a pair of boxers, then he strolls out of the bedroom with Dodger right behind him. I hate when he has to get up for work. I just want to snuggle up to him all morning.
His usual routine is to reluctantly get out of bed, let Dodger out to do his business, feed Dodger and himself, then take a quick shower and get dressed, before kissing me goodbye — if I'm still awake, of course. Today, I still am. I usually am, to be honest, until he leaves. I tend to ask him if he wants me to make him breakfast, but he always insists I stay in bed.
He sits on the edge of the bed next to me, putting on his shoes. "Do you r-really have to go to work t-today? Can't you j-just have a loooong weekend?" I pout, making him chuckle softly.
"I wish. Nah, I've already had too much time away. I gotta go in." I sigh over-dramatically and he smiles, looking over at me. "Thank you again for yesterday. It really was the perfect day." He utters, intertwining our fingers.
"It was nothing. I'm j-just glad it turned out okay."
"It turned out perfectly — and not just because of the sex. I mean, the sex was phenomenal — as always," I blush deeply, uncontrollably smiling. "But everything else was perfect too. I have been thinking though, maybe we should book you in to see my doctor." At this, I raise my eyebrows, still smiling.
"Why? What's wrong with me, Evans?" I tease and he chuckles, shaking his head.
"Nothing, you muppet. But, we have been a little... careless, when it comes to condoms." He reminds me.
"Ah, right — yeah. We have a b-bit." He nods, smirking slightly.
"Mhmmm, and as much as I'd like to put a bun in this oven, I don't feel like we're quite there yet." He says with a wink, making my cheeks burn up slightly. "So I don't think it's wise for us to rely solely on the pull-out method. Not long term." I nod in agreement.
"I was th-thinking the same thing, actually. I sh-should probably go on the pill."
"We'll see a doctor and weigh out our options. I don't want you to feel pressured into taking the pill. I've heard there can be a lot of negative side-effects. We'll see what the doctor suggests." He replies, making me smile and nod.
"Okay, yeah, ssssounds good." He smiles too.
"Right. I'll see you later, okay?"
"Yeah, see you l-later. Have fun at work." I chirp, before he leans down and pecks my lips.
"I'll try. I love you." My smile widens, as he stands up.
"I love you too."
"I love you more." I gasp dramatically again and he chuckles, giving me a wink. "Bye, Megs."
"Byyyyye." Once he leaves the bedroom, I exhale deeply, with a wide smile, snuggling back into the pillows. A few seconds later, Dodger wanders back into the room and hops onto the bed, lying next to me. "Hey, handsome. Snooze time again, is it? Smart pup." I whisper, stroking him. I end up spiralling into my own thoughts.
